4 post car lifts hold a vehicle on its own tires across two runways, which makes them the practical choice for storage, stacked parking, and drive-on service and alignment work. This collection lists 32 four post car lifts from AMGO and Katool, priced from $199 to $25,410, with rated capacities from 7,000 lbs on the AMGO 407-P up to 40,000 lbs on the AMGO PRO-40 and PRO-40E. You will find parking and double-parking models, service lifts, alignment lifts, rolling jack combos, storage panels, and replacement hydraulic power units. Choosing a 4 post car lift comes down to four numbers: rated capacity, runway length, overall width, and the height you can clear in the building. Start with the heaviest vehicle you will actually put on it — including fuel, tools and anything in the bed — and buy a rated capacity above that figure rather than at it. Capacity in this collection runs from 7,000 lbs on the AMGO 407-P to 40,000 lbs on the AMGO PRO-40 and PRO-40E, with most of the range sitting between 8,500 lbs (Katool KT-4H850) and 18,000 lbs (AMGO PRO-18, PRO-18A).
Runway length decides whether long-wheelbase trucks fit. The Katool KT-4H950 lists an overall length with ramps of 189 in., while the KT-4H110 lists 229.73 in. and the KT-4H150 lists 229.92 in. The AMGO PRO-12SX + J6A combo measures 239 13/16 in. overall including ramps. Width matters just as much in a two-car garage — the verified widths below span 113 in. to 138.80 in. Measure the bay, the door opening and the walk-around space before you compare prices.
| Model | Rated capacity | Max lifting height | Overall width | Width between columns |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Katool KT-4H950 | 9,500 lbs | 84.5 in. | 113 in. | 99.5 in. |
| Katool KT-4H110 | 11,000 lbs | 84.25 in. | 126 in. | 112.81 in. |
| Katool KT-4H120X | 12,000 lbs | 86.9 in. | 135.2 in. | 112.81 in. |
| AMGO PRO-12SX + J6A | 12,000 lbs | 74 7/16 in. | 126 5/16 in. | 112 1/4 in. |
| Katool KT-4H150 | 15,000 lbs | 92.52 in. | 138.80 in. | 116.65 in. |
Parking and storage lifts are built to hold a vehicle in the air for long periods so a second one can sit underneath. The AMGO 407-P and 407-P-DX (7,000 lbs), 408-HP, 408-P-DX and 408-HP-DX (8,000 lbs) and 409-HP (9,000 lbs) sit in this group. The 409-DP and 409-DPX are double-parking lifts rated 9,000 lbs, with the 409-DP listed at 6,000 lbs per vehicle — read that split carefully, because the per-vehicle figure is what governs what you can actually store. Models marked (Combo) ship as bundled packages, so check the product page for what is included instead of assuming.
Service four-post lifts such as the AMGO PRO-12, PRO-14 and PRO-18 are aimed at repeat lifting cycles in a working bay. Alignment lifts are a separate class: the AMGO PRO-14A, PRO-14AE, PRO-18A and PRO-12ASX, plus the Katool KT-4H150, are built for wheel alignment, with slip plates listed on the PRO-14A and turnplate pockets set into the runways. If alignment is in your business plan at all, buy the alignment version up front — the runways are not something you retrofit.
Buyers looking for a 40k capacity 4-post lift are usually servicing medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses or tractor units, where a 12,000 lb service lift is nowhere near enough. This collection carries the AMGO PRO-40 and the extra-length PRO-40E at 40,000 lbs, and the PRO-30 and PRO-30E at 30,000 lbs. At this size the decisions change. Runway length and approach clearance drive the building layout, the slab and anchoring need to be engineered for the load rather than assumed, and the listed voltage and phase are often different from the 110V single-phase units. Freight is a real line item too — plan how a lift this size will be unloaded before you order it.
Concrete comes first, and the model's own requirement beats any rule of thumb. The Katool KT-4H850 lists a minimum concrete thickness of 3.93 in. (100 mm) at a minimum 3,000 PSI rating, along with a dynamic loading capacity of 115% and a static tested capacity of 150% of rated load. Heavier lifts ask for more. ANSI/ALI ALIS, the standard covering automotive lift installation, addresses anchoring, slab condition and placement relative to joints and edges — on an unknown slab, core testing beats guessing.
Ceiling height is the constraint that most often derails a home-garage purchase after delivery. Measure to the lowest obstruction — opener rail, door track, light fixture — not to the ceiling, then add the roof height of the vehicle you intend to park underneath. For reference, the Katool KT-4H950 lists a post height of 97 in., the KT-4H110 94.88 in., the KT-4H120X a machine height of 94.88 in., and the AMGO PRO-12SX combo an overall height of 86 in.
Power is third. The KT-4H950 and KT-4H110 list 110VAC single-phase motors; the KT-4H850 lists 110V/60Hz/1PH with an optional 220V and a 30 amp requirement; the KT-4H120X lists a 220V power requirement; the KT-4H150 lists a 3KW motor. Have the circuit run before the lift arrives.
A rolling jack, or bridge jack, sits across the runways and lifts the vehicle off its tires so you can pull wheels or service brakes and suspension without giving up the four-post platform. Two listings here include one: the Katool KT-4H150 ships as a 15,000 lbs alignment lift with rolling jack, and the AMGO PRO-12SX + J6A is sold as a 12,000 lbs lift and J6A jack combo. If wheels-off work is more than occasional, price the jack in at the start.
For parking installs, the AMGO 40812 storage wave panels close in the space between the runways so the upper deck can carry tires, totes and seasonal parts rather than only a vehicle. On the service side, the collection also lists Katool four post lift pumps, including 220V replacement hydraulic power units — relevant if you are keeping an existing lift running instead of replacing it.
Four-post lifts are mechanically simple but not maintenance-free. Lifting cables and chains stretch unevenly over time, which puts the runways out of level and loads the locks unequally, so equalization has to be checked and adjusted on the schedule in the manual. Locks should be tested through their full travel, and the lift should always be lowered onto its mechanical locks before anyone works underneath — never left hanging on hydraulic pressure alone.
ANSI/ALI ALOIM, the standard for automotive lift operation, inspection and maintenance, calls for inspection by a qualified lift inspector at least annually, on top of daily operator checks. ANSI/ALI ALCTV is the construction, testing and validation standard that third-party lift certification programs are built around, and it is worth knowing whether a given model has been certified to it. Finally, treat the ramps, wheel stops and the manufacturer's specified loading direction as part of the safety design, not optional hardware.
