What Is a Lift Cart?

A lift cart is a mobile scissor or elevating platform used to raise a load to a working height and move it short distances on casters. Unlike a pallet jack, which only lifts a few inches to clear the floor, a lift cart is built to hold a load at an elevated, stable height — often at bench or line height — so an operator can work on, load, or unload it without bending or reaching. Lift carts are common at packing stations, assembly lines, tool rooms, and receiving docks where a load needs to travel a short distance and then sit at a fixed height for a period of time.

Manual, Foot-Pump, and Winch-Operated Lift Carts

This collection includes several ways to raise the platform. Vestil's Low Profile Scissor Lift Cart and Heavy Duty Low Profile Scissor Lift Cart use hydraulic and foot-pump actuation, letting one person raise a load without a power source. The Vestil Hydra Lift Cart is also offered with a winch-and-hook option or with 18-inch forks, useful when you need to draw a load onto the cart rather than lift it from above. The EOSLift TA-series (TA15, TA30, TA50, TAD35, TAD80) are manual scissor lift carts operated by a hand or foot pump lever, with the TAD80 using a double-scissor mechanism to reach a 55.5-inch raised height. None of the carts in this collection are motorized — all are manually actuated, which keeps them simple to maintain and usable without electrical infrastructure.

Choosing Capacity and Table Size

Match the cart's rated capacity and table size to your heaviest and largest typical load, not your average one. In this collection, EOSLift models are labeled by capacity and raised height directly in the model name — for example the TA15 (330 lb, 29.7 in. raised) versus the TAD80 (1,764 lb, 55.5 in. raised) — so you can compare stated capacity against your load weight before ordering. Vestil's Self-Elevating Lift Carts (SCSC) are built in 20 in. x 32 in. and 20 in. x 40 in. table sizes, while the Heavy Duty Low Profile line is available in sizes from 20 in. x 40 in. up to 42 in. x 42 in. If your load overhangs the table, plan for a larger platform rather than a higher-capacity cart with a smaller deck — an overhanging load is a stability problem, not a weight problem.

Low-Profile vs Standard Lift Carts

Low-profile scissor carts, like Vestil's CART-900-LP and CART-400-LP, are built with a lower starting (lowered) height so they can be rolled directly under a pallet or low fixture before lifting — useful where floor clearance is tight or where the cart needs to slide under a rack beam. Standard and self-elevating carts sit a bit higher when fully lowered but often reach a greater raised height, such as the EOSLift TAD35 at 62.4 in. raised. Check both the lowered height (for clearance under your load or fixture) and the raised height (for the working level you need) before choosing a model — the two numbers do not move together in a linear way across models.

Site and Operator Considerations

Because every cart in this collection is manually actuated, operator effort and floor conditions matter more than with powered equipment. Casters are typically polyurethane, which rolls easily on smooth concrete but works harder on uneven or debris-covered floors — check aisle surfaces before specifying a cart for daily use. Never load a cart beyond its rated capacity, and always lower the platform before moving it any distance, since scissor mechanisms are least stable when raised and rolling. If your operation also uses powered material handling equipment, keep in mind that lift carts are not powered industrial trucks and are typically covered by general workplace safe-handling practices rather than powered-equipment training programs — check with your safety officer for your facility's specific policy.

Vestil vs EOSLift: What Each Brand Offers

Vestil is a US manufacturer (Made in USA, Vestil Manufacturing) represented here across six models: Low Profile Scissor Lift Carts, Heavy Duty Low Profile Scissor Lift Carts, Self-Elevating Lift Carts (SCSC), Premium Scissor Lift Carts, and the Hydra Lift Cart with winch-and-hook or fork options. Vestil products in this catalog carry a 1-year limited warranty and are priced from roughly $838 up into the low $3,000s depending on model and capacity. EOSLift contributes five manual scissor lift table carts (TA15, TA30, TA50, TAD35, TAD80), identified directly by rated capacity and raised height in the title, spanning 330 lb to 1,764 lb of rated capacity and 29.7 in. to 62.4 in. of raised height. Choose Vestil when you want fork or winch-and-hook attachment options or a low-profile deck for under-pallet lifting; choose EOSLift when you want a straightforward manual scissor cart sized clearly by capacity and height.
