What a tractor land grader does

A land leveler grades by carrying loose material forward against a cutting edge and dropping it into the low spots as it goes, so the surface averages out over each pass instead of copying the ruts underneath it. That makes it a finishing tool for surfaces that already exist — gravel drives, ranch roads, riding arenas, paddocks, equipment yards and small lots — rather than a digging tool for cutting new grade. The Loflin Fabrication Tractor Land Leveler works in an 84 to 96 inch width, is built from 7-gauge (3/16 inch) steel, and uses a reinforced, replaceable cutting edge, so the wear part comes off with the bolts instead of taking the whole frame out of service. Cutting angle is adjustable, which is what lets you run an aggressive bite on a rutted drive and then flatten the angle out for a finish pass. A hydraulic lift handles depth and transport. Scarifier bars and transport wheels are available on some models, and a powder-coated finish is optional.

Matching the land leveler to your tractor

Two questions decide whether this attachment works on your machine. First, hydraulics: the lift is hydraulic, so you need a working rear remote circuit and hoses that reach it. Second, ballast and traction — a grader this wide, loaded with material, pulls hard in compacted gravel, and a light tractor will spin or porpoise long before the implement is the limiting factor. Check your tractor manual for rear lift capacity and hitch category, then compare them against this implement's weight and mount before you order. Tire choice matters too: turf tires on a wet, freshly graded surface leave marks you then have to grade back out.

Getting a good result, and keeping the edge

Most grading problems come from working the surface too dry or too fast. Damp material knits together and holds the shape; bone-dry gravel just moves and re-ruts under the next vehicle. Take several light passes instead of one deep cut, and keep a crown or a consistent cross-slope so runoff has somewhere to go — gravel surfaces usually fail because of drainage, not because of the stone itself. If the drive has set up hard, scarifier bars (available on some models) break the crust first so the leveler has loose material to work with. After each job, check the bolts on the replaceable cutting edge, knock packed material off the frame, and store the unit off bare ground; the optional powder-coated finish helps, but standing water under a parked implement is what starts the rust.
