What E-Z Storage Makes

E-Z Storage builds ceiling- and wall-mounted storage equipment for garages, shops and light commercial spaces. The line splits into two things that do real lifting work — retractable drill-powered lift platforms and fixed overhead racks — plus the wall shelving, slides, hooks and rail hardware that finish an installation. Several models list a United States country of origin in their product data, including the 4' x 6' E-Z Lift, the 4' x 6' E-Z Lift MAX and the 4' x 4' E-Z Lift MAX.

The catalog spans $30 to $1,799. The low end is hardware — hook kits, bike slide hooks, rail connectors. The high end is a full 4' x 8' lift platform. Most buyers end up combining the two: one overhead unit plus the accessories that make the platform usable for what they actually store.

How the Range Is Structured

E-Z Lifts (retractable platforms)

These are ceiling-mounted platforms that drop down to load and retract back up. Every lift in our catalog is operated by a standard drill; the 4' x 8' Retractable Ceiling Storage Garage Lift also lists an optional hand crank and requires no electricity. Frames are described as heavy-duty, all-welded or reinforced steel. The distinguishing variables are platform size, drop length and rated capacity — see the table below.

Ceiling Storage (fixed overhead racks)

The Heavy-Duty Pro racks in 4' x 4' and 4' x 6', the 4' x 8' Overhead Rack rated at 1,000 pounds, and the 3-in-1 Heavy Duty 4' x 8' Overhead Garage Storage System are static units. They mount and stay mounted. Nothing retracts, nothing cranks, and the 4' x 8' rack carries the highest stated capacity of anything in the range.

Slides, hooks and bike storage

The Tote Slide Pro, Glide Tote Slide and Bin Slide turn overhead space into pull-out tote storage. The Bike Slide, Bike Slide Pro, Bike Kit Pro and Bike Slide Hooks 2-Pack hang bicycles from the ceiling structure. The Overhead Garage Storage Hook Kit System covers general hanging.

Wall Storage

The Heavy Duty Wall Shelf and Heavy Duty Wall Shelf Combo move load onto the wall instead of the ceiling — useful where joists are obstructed, or where you want items at reach height rather than overhead.

Rails and hardware

Channel Rail, Support Rail and Channel Rail Connector are stocked as individual line items rather than bundled-only parts. That matters for extending an existing installation or replacing a damaged component without rebuying a system.

Matching a Lift to Your Ceiling

Ceiling height is the first filter, not capacity. A MAX unit in an 8-foot garage has nowhere to go; a standard 8-foot drop in a 14-foot shop leaves the platform stranded above reach. Specifications below come from our product data:

Note that capacity does not scale with platform size the way buyers expect. The 4' x 6' and 4' x 4' units share the same 400-pound rating; stepping up to 4' x 8' is what buys additional capacity. Ratings are stated as evenly distributed loads, so concentrated point loads — a single engine block or safe — are outside what these numbers describe.

Lift or Fixed Rack?

Choose a lift when you retrieve the contents more than a few times a year: seasonal inventory, tooling, case goods, anything you would otherwise need a ladder and a second person to handle. Choose a fixed rack when the load goes up and stays up, when you want the highest capacity per dollar, or when the 1,000-pound rating on the 4' x 8' Overhead Rack is the deciding factor. The 4' x 4' E-Z Lift's product data specifically names loading docks and mezzanine applications alongside garage use, which is where a small-footprint retractable platform earns its keep in a commercial setting.

Installation, Parts and Support

All lifts in the range install with common tools and include instructions per the manufacturer's product data; operation uses a standard drill rather than a wired motor, so there is no electrical rough-in. Overhead units mount to structure, so confirm your joist layout and spacing before ordering a platform size.
