Kenco Multi-Lift Systems

Kenco Multilift systems are below-the-hook grip clamps: instead of slinging or hooking a load, they close on it and hold it between pivoting pads. This collection carries five Kenco multi lift models priced from $4,150 to $12,950. Listed capacities include 3,000 lb on the ML3K5T32V3, 8,000 lb on the ML8K10T68V1 and 12,000 lb on the ML12K14T88V1, with listed outside grip ranges running from 5" at the small end up to 88" on the ML12K14T88V1. Size by the material width you actually handle first, then by capacity and by the carrier that will hold the clamp.

Kenco Multilift Systems: What a Multi Lift Actually Does

A Kenco Multilift is a below-the-hook attachment, not a machine of its own. It hangs from a crane, excavator, telehandler or similar carrier, closes on the load's faces, and holds it by friction between two pads. Every unit in this collection uses pivoting pads — the ML3K5T32V3 and ML8K10T68V1 list multi-directional pivoting pads, and the ML12K14T88V1 lists 360° pivoting pads — so the clamp can find flat contact on a face that is not perfectly square to the lift. Kenco's listed application for these units is lifting, transporting and positioning loads; the ML8K10T68V1 is listed specifically for concrete slabs, blocks and precast items. Bodies are listed as high-strength or heavy-duty steel with reinforced, secure mounting points. Five Kenco models are stocked here between $4,150 and $12,950.

Grip Range Comes First, Capacity Second

The most common mistake buyers make with a multi lifter is shopping on capacity alone. A clamp rated far above your load is useless if the jaws will not open to your thickest piece, or will not close tight enough on your thinnest one. Each Kenco model lists two figures: an outside grip range, for gripping a load on its outer faces, and an inside-out grip range, for opening against the inside of a box, opening or pipe bore. Check both against the extremes of what you handle, not the average.

Two of the five listings do not publish capacity or grip range in their spec block. Ask us for the Kenco data sheet on those before ordering rather than assuming they match a similarly named model — and note that the ML12000 Multilift listing shows SKU ML12K14T88V1 alongside model number ML12K10T88V1, which is worth confirming against the unit you need.

Multilift Elevators and Multilift Construction Elevators Are a Different Machine

If you searched for multilift construction elevators or multilift elevators, this collection is not that equipment. Construction elevators are rack-and-pinion personnel and material hoists that climb a mast fixed to a structure and move people or materials between floors; in US construction work they fall under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.552, which covers material hoists, personnel hoists and elevators. The Kenco Multilift systems on this page are below-the-hook lifting attachments that grip one load at a time under a carrier. They are not personnel-rated and must never be used to lift or support people. We do not stock construction hoists.

Rigging the Clamp: Slings, Shackles and the Carrier

How the clamp connects matters as much as the clamp itself. The ML3K5T32V3 lists its attachment method as a sling and shackle assembly, and the other models list reinforced, secure mounting points. Slings and shackles are governed equipment in their own right: ASME B30.9 covers slings, ASME B30.26 covers rigging hardware including shackles, and OSHA 1926.251 requires that rigging equipment for material handling be inspected prior to use on each shift and removed from service when damaged. In general industry, OSHA 1910.184 sets the sling requirements.

Also budget for the clamp's own weight. The ML8K10T68V1 is listed at roughly 530 lbs (240 kg), and that comes off your carrier's rated chart before the load does. Deduct clamp weight plus rigging from the crane, excavator or telehandler capacity at the radius and height you will actually work at — not the machine's headline number.

Inspection, Maintenance and Operator Practice

ASME B30.20 is the standard for below-the-hook lifting devices, covering marking, construction, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and operation, and ASME BTH-1 is the companion design standard. The ML8K10T68V1 product data states it is designed per ASME B30.20 and BTH-1. Practically, that means the device carries a rated load marking, runs on a documented inspection program, and is taken out of service when it fails inspection rather than repaired in place by whoever is on shift.

Pads are the wear item on any grip clamp. Glazed, worn, or oil- and mud-contaminated pad faces lose friction, which is the entire mechanism holding your load. Inspect and clean them, keep pivots and linkages free so the pads can self-align, and look for elongation or cracking at the mounting points and pins. Operators should center the clamp on the load, avoid side-loading or dragging, lift smoothly rather than snatching, and keep everyone clear underneath — OSHA 1926.1425 addresses keeping employees clear of suspended loads on construction crane work.

Choosing Between the Five Multi Lifters Here

Work from the material outward. For narrow precast, curbing and smaller slab work, the ML3000 at 3,000 lbs with a 5″–32″ outside range covers the light end. For general slab, block and precast handling where pieces run wider, the ML8K10T68V1 at 8,000 lbs opens to 68″ and does not require hydraulics per its spec sheet, so it works behind carriers with no auxiliary circuit. For wide panels and heavier precast, the ML12K14T88V1 gives 12,000 lbs and an 88″ outside range, or 38″–112″ inside-out. If your loads sit near the top of a model's range in width or weight, move up rather than running a clamp at its published limit every cycle.
