Tell us your vehicle and your garage — ceiling height, bay size, power and floor — and we'll match 2-post, 4-post, scissor and single-post lifts using each manufacturer's specifications. Anything we can't confirm from the specs, our team checks with you before you order.
Minimum ceiling heights quoted from each manufacturer's installation manual or product page. The lift itself must clear the ceiling; to raise a tall vehicle all the way you need more — the Lift Finder adds your vehicle's height to the lift's rise.
| Lift type | Models | Capacity | Max rise | Overall height | Min. concrete (thickness / PSI) | 110–120V power unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2-post lifts | 35 | 6,600–20,000 lb | 51.3–82.7" | 71.8–176.8" | 4–6.5" / 3,000–4,000 PSI | 13 of 32 models |
| 4-post lifts | 44 | 5,000–50,000 lb | 70–143" | 82–147" | 3.9–5" / 2,987–3,500 PSI | 25 of 36 models |
| Mid-rise scissor lifts | 8 | 6,000–9,000 lb | 39.4–47.2" | — | 4–5.9" / 3,000 PSI | 6 of 7 models |
| Full-rise scissor lifts | 8 | 7,000–16,000 lb | 72.8–78.8" | — | 3.9–6.3" / 3,000 PSI | 0 of 5 models |
| Single-post lifts | 4 | 7,000 lb | 71.7–74" | 102.8–109.4" | 5" / 3,500 PSI | 4 of 4 models |
Ranges across the lifts we currently carry (AMGO, Katool, Triumph), taken from the manufacturers' spec sheets and installation manuals. Requirements differ by model — the Lift Finder checks the exact model.
2-post lifts pick the vehicle up by the frame, so the wheels hang free — the usual choice for brakes, suspension, tires and exhaust work. Across the 35 2-post lifts we carry, capacities run 6,600–20,000 lb and the lifts are 103.1–160.6 in. wide overall.
4-post lifts are drive-on: no arms to position, and many owners use them to park a second car underneath. Of the 44 4-post lifts we carry, 25 of the 36 with a listed power unit run on 110–120V. For wheel work you add a rolling jack.
Scissor and single-post lifts fit garages where a 2-post or 4-post won't: mid-rise scissor lifts raise the vehicle 39.4–47.2 in. and need no ceiling height beyond the car itself.
It depends on the model. For the 2-post lifts we carry, manufacturers ask for a minimum of 108 in. (9' 0") for floor-plate models such as the AMGO BP-9, about 144 in. (12 ft) for overhead models like the Triumph NTO-10A and AMGO OHX-10, and more than 14.5 ft for heavy-duty overhead models (AMGO OH-12, OH-15, OH-18). To lift a tall vehicle all the way up you need extra room: the Lift Finder adds your vehicle's height to each lift's rise and tells you how high it can go under your ceiling.
The posts of the 4-post lifts we carry are 82–147 in. tall, and their runways rise 70–143 in. depending on the model. To park a car underneath you need room for the top vehicle at the height you lift it plus that vehicle's own height. Choose “storage” in the Lift Finder, enter the height of the car underneath and your ceiling, and it checks the clearance under the runways and above the top car for each model.
Manufacturers set this per model. For the 2-post lifts we carry, minimums are 4 to 6.5 in. of concrete at 3,000–4,000 PSI — 13 of them accept 4 in., while heavier models ask for more (for example AMGO OH-12: 5 in.; Triumph NTO-16: 6 in. at 3,000 PSI; Katool 12,000 lb models: 6.5 in.). 4-post lifts call for 3.9–5 in. at 2,987–3,500 PSI. Always follow the installation manual of the exact model; the Lift Finder shows the requirement for each lift and compares it with your slab.
Some models, yes: 13 of the 35 2-post lifts we carry list 4 in. as the minimum (for example the Triumph C7000 manual: “Concrete must be a minimum of 4” thickness and 3,000 PSI.”). Most others ask for 5 to 6.5 in. Enter your slab thickness in the Lift Finder and it will flag lifts that need a thicker floor or footings.
The 2-post lifts we carry are 103.1–160.6 in. wide overall (outside of the columns), per the manufacturers' spec sheets. Your bay also needs room to walk around the lift and open doors — enter your bay width in the Lift Finder to check each model.
Choose a 2-post lift if you mainly work on wheels, brakes and suspension — the wheels hang free. Choose a 4-post lift if you want to park a second car underneath or prefer to simply drive on; add a rolling jack for wheel work. If your ceiling is low, look at mid-rise scissor lifts. The Lift Finder shows all types that fit your vehicle and garage side by side.
Mid-rise scissor lifts raise the vehicle 39.4–47.2 in., so they work wherever the car itself fits. Among taller lifts, floor-plate 2-post models need the least height — from 108 in. (9' 0") for the AMGO BP-9 — and the AMGO SPL-7 single-post parking lift is listed for ceilings as low as 110 in. Enter your ceiling in the Lift Finder to see what fits.
Not always. Of the 4-post lifts we carry with a listed power unit, 25 of 36 run on 110–120V; among 2-post lifts it is 13 of 32 (often as an option). Choose your garage power in the Lift Finder and it will tell you which lifts need a 220–240V circuit.
