How to Choose a Portable Car Lift

Start with the jobs you do most often. How much room you need under the car matters more than the biggest capacity number.

• Low-rise lifts such as the AMGO LR06 and LR10 reach a max lifting height of 24 3/16". That is enough for wheels, brakes and body work, and they suit garages with low ceilings.
• Mid-rise scissor lifts, including the AMGO MR06 and MRP06 and the Katool KT-X66, KT-X85, KT-X80 and KT-X90E, give you more room for suspension, exhaust and driveline work from a rolling stool.
• Portable two-post lifts like the Triumph C-7000 (a cable-free portable two-post design) and the Katool KT-PMRL200 pick the vehicle up with arms at its lift points, so the wheels hang free.
• Single post lifts use one column, which leaves more open floor around the car. The Katool KT-SPL700 is specified as a movable single column lift for indoor use.
• Mini lifts such as the Katool KT-M7700 have a compact footprint for easy maneuvering and are made for quick tire changes, brake service and under-body access.

Portable Scissor Lift Specs Compared

Minimum height tells you whether a lowered car will fit over the lift. Maximum height tells you how much working room you get.

The Katool KT-X90E is the scissor lift here that comes with a caster kit for repositioning: it is rated at 8,000 lbs, reaches 47.25 in, and includes drive-up ramps, composite rubber lifting blocks and the caster kit. It is available in 110V or 220V versions.

Portable Two-Post and Single Post Lifts

A few details to check before you buy. The Triumph C-7000 adjusts from 48"–120" between posts, but column casters are not included. The Katool KT-PMRL200 is rated at 3,500 lbs per axle, so make sure your vehicle's weight is balanced front to rear. The Katool KT-SPL700 needs a dedicated 110V, 20 amp breaker circuit.

Plan Your Garage Space, Floor and Power

• Ceiling: add your tallest vehicle's height to the lift's max height and compare it with your ceiling, garage door track and lights. The KT-SPL700 recommends an indoor ceiling height of ~12 ft.
• Floor area: measure the lift's overall length and width, then leave room to walk around the car and to roll a jack or oil drain. The KT-SPL700 recommends clearance of > 40" around the vehicle.
• Floor condition: use a level, solid concrete floor in good condition, without cracks or slopes. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on anchoring and floor requirements for your model.
• Power and air: confirm the circuit before delivery. The KT-X90E lists 110 V (30 A) or 220 V, and the pneumatic KT-X80 needs a compressor that supplies 90–120 psi.

Moving, Storing and Caring for Your Lift

Portable does not mean light. The AMGO LR06 has a gross weight of 827 lbs, the AMGO MR06 950 lbs and the Katool KT-X66 a net weight of 1,212 lbs, so plan for helpers or moving hardware where the model includes it. Before every lift, set the vehicle on its correct lift points and lower it onto the mechanical locks before you work underneath. The KT-X90E has five lock positions. Check the hydraulic oil level and use the type in the specs: AW-46 (AW-32 for colder climates) for the KT-X90E and KT-M7700, and ISO 32 light hydraulic oil for the KT-SPL700. Shipping and Returns

We ship within the USA. Shipping rates for most items are calculated at checkout; for oversized or heavy equipment we may send a separate shipping quote. Most orders need 1-2 business days of handling, and standard transit typically takes 1-5 business days after dispatch. Oversized or crated equipment can take longer, and all dates are estimates.

Freight arrives as a tailgate delivery, so you need a forklift, loading dock or enough people to unload the lift. Your address must be reachable by a freight trailer. Inspect the shipment while the driver is there, write "DAMAGED" on the Bill of Lading if you see damage, and report concealed damage within 24 hours.

Returns are accepted within 60 days from delivery if the item is unused and in its original packaging. You must get a Return Authorization (RA) number from info@vovlift.com before shipping anything back. You pay return shipping, and a 30% restocking fee applies.
