What This Mini Skid Steer Brush Cutter Attachment Does

A mini skid steer brush cutter is a hydraulically driven rotary deck that mounts on the loader's attachment plate and draws power from the auxiliary circuit. It handles reclamation work — saplings, briars, tall weeds, neglected trails — that is too rough for a finish mower and too light to justify a full-size forestry mulcher. Only one model is carried here, in these configurations:

Working width (mini models)36", 42", 50"
Working width (standard models)48", 60", 72"
Deck / housing steel3/16" reinforced deck (mini); 3/8" housing (standard)
BladesForged steel, heat-treated, bi-directional

The mini widths — 36", 42" and 50" — are the ones matched to compact loaders; the 48", 60" and 72" versions are built for full-size machines. Additional coupler options beyond Standard Mini Universal are listed on the product page.

Matching a Brush Cutter to Your Loader and Site

Two things decide whether the attachment works on your machine: hydraulics and mounting. A brush cutter is motor-driven, so the loader's auxiliary flow and pressure determine blade speed and how quickly the deck recovers in heavy stems — compare your machine's published auxiliary output against the flow range Loflin specifies before ordering. Mounting is the other gate: mini skid steer attachment plates are a smaller interface than the full-size skid steer quick-attach, so a full-size cutter does not fit a mini loader without an adapter, and vice versa.

Width follows the site. A 36" deck fits gated yards, trail work and tight fence lines and asks less of the hydraulics; a 50" deck covers ground faster on open lots but is harder to steer past obstacles and heavier at the coupler, which matters on the front-heavy compact loaders these attach to.

Blades, Deck Steel and Upkeep

Deck steel separates a cutter that survives stumps from one that folds: 3/16" reinforced steel on the mini decks, 3/8" on the standard-size housings. The forged, heat-treated blades are bi-directional, so an edge dulled running one way can be turned and run the other rather than replaced immediately. Beyond that, upkeep is routine — grease and torque blade hardware to the manufacturer's manual, clear packed material from under the deck after wet cutting, and walk the area before you start. Striking a fixed obstacle such as a hidden stump or a survey pin is the most common way these decks and spindles get damaged, and it is the failure buyers most often blame on the attachment.
