Shop Tractel dynamometers, tensiometers, load limiters and anchor testers for lifting, rigging and pull testing. A rigging dynamometer, also called a load link or load cell, hangs in line between the hook and the load and shows the actual force. A tensiometer reads tension on a rope that's already installed. A load limiter trips a switch when a set load is reached. This range suits rigging crews, crane and hoist owners, and maintenance teams. Looking for engine or hand-grip dynamometers? We don't carry those in this collection.

View full detailsIn lifting and rigging, a dynamometer is an in-line force gauge. You attach it between the crane, hoist or winch and the load, and it reads the tension passing through it. People also call it a load link, load cell or crane scale dynamometer. This page covers rigging tools only. Engine, chassis and hand-grip dynamometers, used in auto shops and physical therapy, are different instruments.
Capacity first. Choose a nominal capacity that clearly exceeds the heaviest force you expect. Remember that force can spike when a load lifts off, swings or stops suddenly.
Accuracy second. The Dynafor Expert is listed at ±0.1%, the Dynafor Pro Wireless at ±0.2% and the Dynafor Industrial at +/- 0.3% of nominal capacity. Tight accuracy matters for testing and verification. General weighing and pull checks can usually accept a wider band.
Readout third. The Dynafor Pro Wireless sends its reading to a display away from the load, so the operator can watch from a distance. The Dynafor Expert is sold as a sensor only. Plan your display before you buy, and check the product documentation for compatible readouts such as the Dynafor Hand Held Display (HHD).
Environment and power. Match the protection rating to where you'll work. The Dynafor Industrial is rated IP 64. The Dynafor Expert sensor is IP 64, with IP67 as an option, and its display is IP 54. The dynarope HF 36 is rated IP 65 (NEMA 4). The Expert runs on three 1.5 V AA batteries and the Industrial on two 1.5 V AAA batteries, so keep spares on hand.
| Product | Type | Capacity options | Accuracy / repeatability | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dynafor Expert | Dynamometer (sensor only) | 0.5 t to 10 t | ±0.1% | Sensor IP 64 (IP67 option), display IP 54 |
| Dynafor Industrial | Dynamometer | 1 t to 20 t | +/- 0.3% of nominal capacity | IP 64, AAA batteries |
| Dynafor Pro Wireless | Wireless dynamometer | 1 t to 250 t | ±0.2% | Remote reading |
| dynarope HF 37 | Tensiometer | 3,000 lbs. or 6,000 lbs. | Under 1% FS | Lighter rope tension work |
| dynarope HF 36 | Tensiometer | 10,000 lbs. or 40,000 lbs. | ± 2% of full scale | IP 65 (NEMA 4), 200 h autonomy, 11 lb |
| dynasafe HF 05 | Tension load limiting cell | Options starting at 1,000 lbs. | See product page | Micro switch; model A without monitor, model B with HF 85 monitor |
| Dynasafe Mecha | Universal load limiter | 6,400 lbs. to 24,000 lbs. | +/- 1% of nominal capacity (repeatability) | Micro switch, two trip points |
| dynaplug HF 44 | Anchor tester | 25KN or 50KN | Under 1% of nominal capacity | AA batteries |
A load limiter acts on the reading instead of just showing it. The Dynasafe Mecha Universal Load Limiter uses a micro switch with two trip points and comes in 6,400 lbs., 12,000 lbs. and 24,000 lbs. capacities. With two trip points, you can set a warning level and a separate cut-off level. The dynasafe HF 05 is a tension load limiting cell with a micro switch. Model A versions work without a monitor, and model B versions add the HF 85 monitor for a live readout.
Load limiters are commonly installed on wire rope hoists and other cranes and hoists. Have a qualified person wire and set the limiter according to the manufacturer's instructions and your site's safety program.
The Tractel Swivel Hook for Dynafor Dynamometers comes in 3.2 t, 6.5 t, 15 t, 20 t, 25 t and 50 t capacities. Choose the hook that matches your dynafor unit's capacity, and confirm the fit in the product documentation. A swivel lets the load turn without twisting the instrument. The Dynafor Hand Held Display (HHD), part number 293449, weighs 1 lb and gives you a portable readout for the dynafor line.
Both hang in line and read force, and buyers often search for either one as a "crane scale dynamometer." A dynamometer is built for measuring tension in rigging, pulling and testing, with the pull either vertical or horizontal. A crane scale is mainly for weighing suspended loads. If weighing is your main job, browse our industrial and crane scales. If you need to secure loads on trucks and trailers rather than measure them, see cargo control and load bars.
A dynamometer is an instrument that measures force. In lifting and rigging, it's an in-line load link: you attach it between a hook, hoist or winch and the load, and it shows the tension in real time. Crews use it to weigh loads, check pulling force and verify rigging. Other types measure engine power or grip strength, but those aren't part of this collection.
A dynamometer is inserted into the load path, so the whole force passes through it. A tensiometer, like the Tractel dynarope HF 37 or HF 36, reads the tension of a rope or cable that's already installed, without adding a link. The HF 37 comes in 3,000 lbs. and 6,000 lbs. versions. The HF 36 comes in 10,000 lbs. and 40,000 lbs. versions.
A load limiter monitors the load continuously and switches a contact when a set threshold is reached, so it can trigger an alarm or stop a hoist. The Tractel Dynasafe Mecha uses a micro switch with two trip points and has a repeatability of +/- 1% of nominal capacity. It comes in 6,400 lbs., 12,000 lbs. and 24,000 lbs. capacities.
No. A grip dynamometer is a handheld clinical tool that physical therapists and trainers use to measure hand strength. A car or chassis dynamometer measures vehicle power. This collection covers industrial force measurement only: rigging dynamometers, wireless load links, tensiometers, load limiters and anchor testers for lifting, pulling and testing.
It depends on the model. The Dynafor Expert is listed at ±0.1%, the Dynafor Pro Wireless at ±0.2% and the Dynafor Industrial at +/- 0.3% of nominal capacity. Choose the Expert when precise verification matters most. The Industrial covers everyday weighing and pull checks, and the Pro Wireless pairs good accuracy with remote reading.
The Tractel Dynafor Pro Wireless Dynamometer comes in capacity options from 1 t to 250 t, including 3.2 t, 6.5 t, 15 t, 25 t, 50 t and 100 t. Choose a capacity that clearly exceeds your heaviest expected force, including dynamic effects. Matching Dynafor swivel hooks are offered in several of the same capacities.
An anchor test applies a controlled pull-out force to an anchor and measures it, so you can check that a fixing holds before you rely on it. The Tractel dynaplug HF 44 Anchor Tester comes in 25KN and 50KN models, with accuracy under 1% of nominal capacity. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and your site's testing procedure.
