Counterbalance walkie stackers lift and stack pallets without straddle legs, so the forks can reach loads a straddle machine cannot: closed-bottom pallets, crates, drums and machine bases sitting flat on the floor. Vovlift carries 18 electric walkie stackers from EKKO, GNT, Vestil and EOSLift, with lift heights from 118 to 189 in and rated capacities from 1,550 lb to 4,409 lb, including lithium and side-shifting models. Prices run $135 to $23,749, since the range covers Vestil attachments as well as complete trucks. Compare capacity at your load center, lowered mast height and aisle width before ordering.

A counterbalance walkie stacker is a pedestrian-controlled electric lift truck that carries its load ahead of the front wheels and balances it with the weight of the chassis and battery, rather than with straddle legs or outriggers. The operator walks behind a tiller instead of riding, which is where the walkie name comes from; buyers also search for these machines as a walkie forklift or a walkie pallet stacker.
The reason to pay for the counterbalanced design is load access. A straddle stacker runs its legs under the pallet on both sides, so it needs an open-bottom pallet and clear floor on either side. A counterbalance walkie stacker has nothing below the forks, so it handles closed-bottom pallets, skids, crates, gaylords, drums and machine bases sitting flat on the floor, and it drives straight up to a bench, a scale, a stretch wrapper or the face of a rack without legs fouling anything at ground level.
The trade-off is size. Cantilevering the load makes the truck longer and heavier than a straddle machine of the same rating, so it needs more aisle to turn. If every load sits on an open-bottom pallet and your aisles are tight, a straddle model may be the cheaper answer.
Rated capacity on these machines is always tied to a load center, and that pairing is what you compare, not the headline number alone. The EKKO EK14S-130LI is rated 3,300 lb at a 24 in load center; the smaller EK07S is rated 1,550 lb at a 20 in load center. A load whose weight sits farther out than the rated center effectively derates the truck, so deep or unevenly packed loads need headroom in the rating rather than an exact match.
Set lift height from the top beam you actually load, plus load height and clearance to lift off and set down. This range covers 118, 130, 138, 177 and 189 in of lift, and the GNT G30KCS-Li is offered from 130 in to 189 in raised height. Then check the two mast dimensions buyers forget: lowered mast height, which decides whether the truck clears a door header or a trailer roof (84 in on the EK14S-130LI, 81.1 in on the EK07S), and extended mast height, 167 in on the EK14S-130LI, which must clear sprinklers, lighting and mezzanine edges at full lift.
Forks matter too. Adjustable forks, 8.3 to 25.2 in on the EK07S and 8.6 to 26 in on the G30KCS-Li, let one truck handle mixed pallet widths, and a 42 in fork suits the 48 x 40 in GMA pallet standard entered from the 40 in face.
Most of this range is lithium, and the reason is duty cycle. Lithium packs accept opportunity charging during breaks without the cycle-life penalty of partially charging a flooded lead-acid battery, so one truck can cover more than a single shift without a battery change. Several models charge on board: the GNT G22CB runs a 24V/100Ah lithium battery with a built-in charger and needs no external unit, and the EKKO EK07S has an internal 24V/20A charger, which matters if you have no battery room.
Lead-acid still makes sense for a light single shift where up-front price drives the decision, but plan for the infrastructure: OSHA 1910.178(g) sets requirements for battery charging areas, including ventilation to disperse fumes and facilities for flushing and neutralizing spilled electrolyte. Look at the drive side as well. AC drive and a Curtis controller, as on the GNT G30KCS-Li with its 24V AC drive motor and 2.2 kW lift motor, remove the brushes and commutator that are the routine wear items on older DC drives.
Measure the aisle before you shortlist. Overall width and turning radius decide whether a truck works in your building: the EK07S is 34.5 in wide with a 51 in turning radius, while the EK14S-130LI is 39 in wide and 113 in long overall. A longer counterbalanced truck needs a wider right-angle stack aisle than its width alone suggests, so allow for load overhang as well as chassis length.
Floors are the other constraint. Polyurethane wheels, standard on machines like the G30KCS-Li, are made for smooth indoor concrete: quiet and non-marking, but unhappy on cracked slabs, expansion joints and gravel yards. Check grades and dock plates against the manufacturer's rated gradeability rather than assuming. If the truck will load racking, confirm the mast tilt available (2 degrees forward, 5 back on the EK14S-130LI) and whether you need side-shift. The 4 in of side-shift on that model lets an operator line a pallet up in the beam opening without repositioning the whole truck.
A walkie stacker is a powered industrial truck, so the same rules apply as to a sit-down forklift. OSHA 1910.178(l) requires operators to be trained, evaluated and certified for the truck type and workplace conditions, with an evaluation at least once every three years; walk-behind operation exempts no one. OSHA 1910.178(q)(7) requires trucks to be examined before being placed in service and at least daily, or after each shift where trucks run around the clock.
ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 is the safety standard covering low-lift and high-lift powered industrial trucks, including operating practices and the requirement for legible capacity markings. Keep the data plate readable, because it is the only authority on what the truck may lift. Day to day, upkeep on an electric stacker is light: inspect lift chains and forks for wear and cracks, keep hydraulic hoses clean and fluid topped up, clear debris from the wheels, and confirm the brakes and the tiller belly switch work before each shift.
The collection runs 18 active items from EKKO (13), GNT (3), Vestil (1) and EOSLift (1), priced from $135 to $23,749. The span is wide because it includes attachments as well as complete trucks: the Vestil counterbalanced narrow stacker is listed across 18 models from $135.08 to $7,967.10, made in the USA with a 1-year limited warranty, covering multi-use attachments such as ball hitches, spindles and buggy lifters.
For straightforward pallet work, the EKKO EK14 family covers 3,300 lb at 118, 130 and 138 in of lift, with lithium and side-shifting variants to 189 in. The EKKO EB18C-118Li is the highest-rated conventional stacker here at 4,000 lb to 118 in, the EK13S-177 handles 2,860 lb to 177 in, and the GNT lithium models sit at 3,000 lb. Where loads must be reached into rack rather than carried out front, the EOSLift LR20 electric reach stacker is rated 4,409 lb. When two models look equivalent on capacity, decide on lowered mast height, aisle width and charging arrangements.
