Mini skid steer booms and jibs turn a compact loader into a short-reach lifting machine for tree work, post setting, and awkward loads that no bucket handles well. This collection carries one attachment: the Loflin Fabrication Mini Tree Boom, $713, rated at 2,500 lb, with 360° boom rotation and mounts stocked for Toro Dingo and Bobcat MT50 machines.

View full detailsA boom attachment moves the load away from the machine so you can place it over an obstacle instead of driving into one — setting a rootball into a planting hole, lifting a fence post, or hoisting material over a footing where forks would bind. The trade is reach against capacity: every foot the load sits farther forward is leverage working against the loader, so a boom derates the carrier well below its bucket rating. The Loflin Fabrication Mini Tree Boom is built from 3" x 3" square steel tubing, stands 55 1/2" tall, and rotates 360°, which lets the operator swing a load into position without repositioning the machine — useful in nursery rows, tight yards, and around finished landscaping. It ships with hoses and fittings plus a treaded step, and the powder-coated finish is aimed at equipment that lives outdoors.
Two things decide fit: the mount and the math. This boom is stocked with Toro Dingo and Bobcat MT50 mounts, with custom mounts and custom heights available, so confirm your loader's plate before ordering — mini skid steer couplers are not standardized across brands the way full-size skid steer plates largely are. On capacity, the 2,500 lb figure is a limit on the attachment, not a promise about your loader. Your real working limit is whichever is lower: that rating, or your machine's rated operating capacity at the reach you are actually lifting from. SAE J818 defines rated operating capacity for skid steer loaders as a set fraction of the machine's tipping load, which is why a loader that carries a full bucket comfortably can get light in the rear with a much smaller load hung out on a boom. Work from your carrier manufacturer's load chart, keep loads low while traveling, and treat soft or sloped ground as a capacity reduction of its own.
