Roll and reel handling equipment moves cylindrical loads — paper, film and textile rolls, wire and cable reels, carpet rolls, pipe and bar stock — without dragging or hand-rolling them across a floor. This collection carries 21 Vestil roll and reel handling products from $114 to $7,446: floor-standing roll lifters and transporters, stackable reel/roll dispensers, carriage-mounted rug rams and roll fork attachments, wire reel caddies, roller stands, pipe grabs, bar cradles, hand winches and cable pullers. Every item is made in the USA by Vestil Manufacturing and listed with a 1-Year Limited warranty. Compare by load diameter, weight, mounting method and how often the load is handled.

View full detailsChoosing roll and reel handling equipment starts with four questions: what the load weighs, what diameter and width it is, whether it sits on the floor or in a rack, and how many times a shift someone handles it. A roll that is picked once a week from floor level is a different problem from a reel that is paid out continuously at a workstation. Cylindrical loads also behave differently from palletized freight — they roll, they shift on the core, and they concentrate weight on a narrow contact patch — so equipment for them is usually specified around the core diameter or the roll OD rather than around a pallet footprint. Sort your candidates into three groups: floor equipment that lifts and transports, forklift attachments that let a truck you already own handle rolls, and dispensing or support equipment that holds a roll while material comes off it.
Floor-standing roll lifters clamp or cradle a roll, lift it clear of the floor, and let one operator walk it to the next station. They suit narrow aisles, mezzanines and rooms where a forklift will not fit or is not worth dedicating to the job. In this collection the choice is mainly between lift method and mast length:
| Model | Description | Price |
|---|---|---|
| HYD-ROLL-47-LP | Roll lifter transporter 47" LP | $1,733.99 |
| HYD-ROLL-47 | Roll lifter transporter 47" | $1,998.32 |
| HYD-ROLL-47-DC | Roll lifter transporter 47" 12VDC powered lift | $7,446.33 |
The three manual/hydraulic units in the Roll Lifters and Transporters listing run $1,733.99 to $2,051.78 and include a 16" version for shorter lifts. The DC powered unit is a separate listing at $7,446.33 — the premium buys a 12VDC powered lift instead of operator pumping. That trade only pays back where cycle counts are high or where repeated manual pumping is an ergonomic problem; for a few lifts a shift, the hydraulic units are the better value.
If you already run a lift truck, a carriage-mounted attachment is usually cheaper than a second machine. This collection covers rug rams and carpet poles (24 models, $681.71 to $1,816.96, in Class 2 and Class 3 carriage mounts with 48" and 60" boom lengths), adjustable manual winch roll fork and narrow-mast attachments, a manual winch reel rotator, a stack roller platform attachment, and steel hook bases for the RPB-2 in 32, 38 and 44 W sizes. Match the carriage class to your truck before anything else — a Class 3 boom will not mount to a Class 2 carriage. Then check boom length against roll width: a boom that only reaches partway through a roll core loads the tip unevenly and puts the load center further out than the truck's capacity plate assumes. Under OSHA 1910.178(a)(5), when a truck carries front-end attachments other than factory-installed ones, the user is required to have the truck marked to identify the attachment and show the approximate weight of the truck-and-attachment combination.
Dispensing equipment holds the load stationary and lets material pay off. The Reel Roll Dispenser (RRD-1030-5) is listed at $588.95 and rated for a 500 lb capacity with a 10" minimum and 30" maximum roll diameter; the stackable version (RRD-ST-1030-5, $1,148.95) does the same job but lets you stack units to get more SKUs into the same floor area. Wall-mounted roll dispensers free the floor entirely, which matters in packing lines and shipping stations. Wire reel caddies — offered here in economy and standard versions — carry cable spools at ground level for electrical and low-voltage work, and Deluxe Roller Stands support long stock coming off a saw, conveyor or reel. Pick dispensers by minimum diameter as well as maximum: a mandrel sized for large rolls will not center a small one, and an off-center roll drags and tears.
The support equipment in this collection covers the jobs around the roll rather than the roll itself. Manual and worm gear hand winches (HWG) handle controlled paying out and take-up; worm gear models hold load without a separate brake, which is why they are the usual choice when a load must stop mid-travel. Long reach cable pullers (CP) pull conductors through conduit and raceway. Heavy-Duty Pipe Grabs come in 10 models from $342.88 to $808.95 in steel and cast iron, including 450 lb and 600 lb rated versions, for lifting pipe and tube. Stackable Bar Cradles organize bar and pipe stock so it is not stacked loose against a wall. If you hang a grab from a crane or hoist hook, ASME B30.20 covers below-the-hook lifting devices, including marking, inspection and operation requirements.
The most common mistake is buying on price and diameter alone and ignoring the load center. The second is assuming a forklift keeps its rated capacity once an attachment is bolted on — it does not, and OSHA 1910.178(a)(4) prohibits modifications affecting capacity and safe operation without the manufacturer's prior written approval, with capacity plates updated accordingly. The third is skipping training: OSHA 1910.178(l) requires that operators of powered industrial trucks be trained and evaluated, and that training address the specific attachments used. ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 is the safety standard covering low lift and high lift powered industrial trucks and is the document most attachment specifications reference back to. Beyond compliance, check the practical details — floor condition and wheel type, door and aisle clearance, whether the roll must be tipped from horizontal to vertical, and who will inspect the equipment. Every product here is Vestil, made in the USA, with a 1-Year Limited warranty listed on each item.
