Industrial and Construction Saws: What Is in This Collection

This category groups three kinds of equipment that often get bought together on a jobsite. Tile and Stone Saws vs. Masonry and Block Saws

The split is about what you are cutting and how thick it is. Tile and stone saws are precision machines: the head or the table rides on bearings, the blade is thin, and the goal is a clean edge on porcelain, ceramic, natural stone or engineered slab. The IMER 1188180 Combicut carries a 10 in. continuous rim porcelain blade at roughly 2,800 RPM, cuts up to 3-3/4 in. deep and up to 57 in. long (plunge up to 60 in.), with a head that tilts up to 45 degrees. The Abaco TS1 cuts from 45 to 90 degrees on a cast aluminum table guided by dual linear bearings; the MODS1 uses an induction-hardened chrome guide bar for corrosion resistance around a wet-cutting station.

Masonry and block saws are production machines. They take a bigger blade, more motor and a heavier frame because the material is CMU, brick, paver and stone rather than tile. The IMER 750 Smart runs a 30 in. blade with cutting depth up to 12 in. at 1,700 RPM, carries up to 90 lbs on the tray, and has locking wheels plus forklift pockets so it can be repositioned around a site. Site Power Is the Constraint Buyers Miss Most

Check the receptacle before you check the blade. The 1188180 Combicut runs on 110V, 15A single phase — ordinary jobsite or shop power. The COMBICUT 350 I needs 220V single phase at 60 Hz, which usually means a dedicated circuit or a generator sized for it. The 750 Plus is three phase, so it belongs in a yard, a precast plant or a shop with three-phase service, not on a residential remodel. Long extension runs cause voltage drop that shows up as a bogging motor and glazed blades, so size the cord to the load and the distance. OSHA 1926.404(b)(1) requires ground-fault circuit interrupter protection or an assured equipment grounding conductor program for 120-volt receptacle outlets on construction sites — worth planning for, since every saw here is a wet-cutting machine.

Water, Slurry and Silica Dust

Wet cutting is not only about blade life. OSHA's respirable crystalline silica standard for construction, 29 CFR 1926.1153, lists stationary masonry saws in its Table 1 with an integrated water delivery system that continuously feeds water to the blade, operated and maintained per the manufacturer's instructions; the table also sets respiratory protection expectations based on shift duration and whether the work is indoors or outdoors. The saws in this collection are built around that method — the 1188180 pump moves 3 gallons per minute and the 750 Smart pump moves over 3 gallons per minute. Practically, that means budgeting for water supply, slurry containment and cleanup on every cut station, and keeping pumps, trays and lines clear so flow does not fall off mid-shift.

Matching Blades to Material and Machine

Blade choice does more for cut quality than horsepower does. Continuous rim blades give the cleanest edge on ceramic, porcelain and stone under water — the IMER 1193920 continuous rim tile blades are offered in 8 in., 10 in. and 14 in., with a .060 thickness on the 8 in. version, manufactured in Italy by IMER USA. Segmented and turbo blades clear debris faster and are the choice for concrete, block and general masonry, which is where the IMER concrete turbo blades and segmented premium masonry blades fit; the 1193957 is a 30 in. premium masonry block saw blade sized for the 750-class machines. Always match blade diameter and arbor to the saw, and confirm the blade's rated speed meets or exceeds the machine's spindle speed. OSHA 1926.303 covers abrasive wheels and tools on construction sites, including guarding, and ANSI B7.1 sets safety requirements for the use, care and protection of abrasive wheels.

Maintenance, Handling and Total Cost

Plan for the consumables, not just the machine. Blades, water pumps and bearings are the recurring spend, and a saw that is under-powered for the material burns through blades faster than a correctly sized one. Rinse trays and pump screens at the end of each shift; dried slurry is what kills pumps. Check that guarding is in place and undamaged before every start, and confirm the table or head slides freely — the linear bearings on the Abaco TS1 and MODS1 are what hold tolerance, so grit on the rails shows up directly in cut quality. For moving equipment, look at how the machine travels: the 750 Smart has locking wheels and forklift pockets, and the Abaco saws use integrated wheels and handles, with the MODS1 built to detach for transport. If a saw has to move between floors or sites daily, portability may matter more than the last inch of cut depth.
