What is a spider lift?

A spider lift is a compact tracked aerial work platform that drives through a standard doorway or gate on rubber tracks, then deploys four outriggers to lift an operator up to 75 ft. Because the outriggers spread the load, a spider lift can set up on lawns, tiled floors, slopes or scaffolding-restricted sites where a boom lift or scissor lift cannot go.

The same machine is sold under several names. You will see it written spyder lift or spiderlift, and called a spider boom, spider bucket lift, tracked bucket lift, spider cherry picker or spider man lift — all describe the same tracked, outrigger-stabilised platform. Common jobs are tree work, atrium and glass cleaning, sign installation and building maintenance.
