The most common mistake buyers make is sizing a generator to the pressure washer's PSI rating. Pressure tells you nothing about electrical demand. What matters is the motor: the electric pressure washers in this collection are built around motors of 5.0 HP, 6.0 HP, 7.5 HP and 10 HP, and an induction motor draws considerably more current in the moment it starts than it does once it is turning. Size against the starting requirement listed on the motor or pump data plate, not the running figure, and leave headroom if the machine will start under load or share the set with lights, heaters or a burner circuit.
The Makinex sets here give you four output tiers to work with: 9kW at 240V, 16kW in both 240V and 480V, 23kW in 240V dual-phase and 480V, and 32kW at 480V. If a single generator has to cover a washer plus other tools, add the loads that can realistically run at the same time rather than the full nameplate of everything on site.
Cold water machines strip dirt, mud and loose coatings by mechanical force alone. The highest-pressure units in this collection are cold water gas models: the B5024HEBAS at 5,100 PSI and 5.5 GPM, and the PE-5024HWEBCOM at 5,000 PSI and 5.0 GPM. Hot water is what changes the job when grease, oil, food fats or shop grime are involved, because heat breaks the bond between the soil and the surface instead of relying on impact. The hot water units here use a 12V Beckett diesel-fired burner; the HW3024HG12V, for example, is rated to a maximum water temperature of 200°F.
The power source decision is separate from the water temperature decision. Gas engine models built on the Honda GX690 and GX390 go where there is no suitable supply, but they produce exhaust and cannot be run in an enclosed space. Electric models with Baldor or TechTop motors are quieter, need no fuel handling and suit indoor bays and wash pads — provided the circuit or generator behind them is adequate. Mounting format matters too: this collection includes portable, skid-mounted (Z5535GPBDH, Z5535GPBDV) and truck-mount (B3528HETBGS) configurations.
Several machines in the catalog are three-phase, including 460 Volt Baldor motor variants of the 3,000 PSI and 2,000 PSI hot water electric washers. NEMA MG 1 defines standard motor utilization voltages, which is why a motor intended for a nominal 480V supply is typically nameplated at 460V — the two are normally paired, but confirm phase, voltage and connection with a licensed electrician before committing. The 480V generators available here are the GEN-16P-MS-480, GEN-23P-MS-480 and GEN-32P-US-V2.

Grounding and bonding are not optional details. NFPA 70 (the National Electrical Code) addresses generators in Article 445 and grounding in Article 250, and OSHA covers grounding of portable and vehicle-mounted generators on construction sites in 1926.404(f)(3). If the set will feed a building's wiring rather than cord-connected equipment, a transfer switch and an electrician are part of the job, not an upgrade.
The GFC150 and GFC85 lithium ride-on floor washers address a different problem than a pressure washer: large, finished interior floors where you cannot spray water freely. Because they are lithium battery powered, they produce no engine exhaust, which makes them workable in occupied warehouses, retail floors and food handling areas where a gas machine is not an option. Choose between the two on floor area per shift and on the aisle widths and door openings the machine has to negotiate — a machine that cannot turn in your narrowest aisle will be worked around rather than used.
A pressure washer cannot deliver more water than it is fed. Check the flow your tap, tank or bowser can actually sustain against the machine's rated GPM — the units here range from 2.0 GPM up to 8.5 GPM, and starving a triplex pump is a fast way to damage it. Inlet water should be clean and within the pump's temperature limit; sediment and hard water shorten the life of plungers, valves and burner coils.
Plan for the water after it hits the ground as well. Under the Clean Water Act, EPA's NPDES stormwater program regulates discharges to storm drains, and many municipalities require wash water from vehicle and equipment cleaning to be contained or routed to sanitary sewer under permit. Confirm local requirements before scheduling outdoor washdowns, particularly where detergents, oils or paint residues are involved.
Purchase price is the smaller number over a machine's life. Budget for pump oil changes, nozzle replacement (a worn nozzle quietly drops working pressure), hose and gun inspection, burner service and fuel filtration on diesel-fired units, and engine service intervals on Honda- and Vanguard-powered equipment. Belt-driven pumps, used on several units here, run cooler and are generally easier to service than direct-drive designs.
On the safety side, OSHA requires energy control procedures under 1910.147 before servicing electrically powered equipment, and OSHA's hearing conservation standard 1910.95 sets an 85 dBA eight-hour time-weighted average action level — worth comparing against published sound data such as the GEN-23P-MS-240's 72–78 dB from no load to full load if crews work beside a set all day. CDC and NIOSH guidance is unambiguous that gasoline engines must never be run indoors or in partially enclosed spaces because of carbon monoxide risk.
