Product Overview
In short
The Triumph NTO-9AE is an overhead two-post auto lift with a 9,000 lb rated capacity, sized for cars, light trucks, and SUVs. It runs on a 110-volt single-phase circuit and gives you a 99-inch drive-thru with no cross-rail on the floor.

Overhead layout and floor clearance

The NTO-9AE is the economy model in Triumph's overhead two-post line, and the overhead layout is the point: the safety cut-off bar and equalizer hardware run across the top of the columns instead of along the floor. That leaves a 99-inch drive-thru between the arms and an unobstructed floor under the vehicle, with no cross-rail to step over while you work. The columns stand 111 inches apart and 142 inches tall, with an overall width of 133 inches across the outside of the base plates, or 145 inches including the power unit. Maximum lifting height is 72 inches, reached in about 50 seconds, and the pads lower to 4.5 inches off the floor for low-clearance vehicles.

Arms, pads and truck adapters

Triumph calls the arm set versatile-symmetric: triple-stage front arms that telescope from 29 to 51.5 inches, and double-stage rear arms from 27 to 41.5 inches. The longer front arms reach the engine-side lift points while the shorter rear arms set under the back of the vehicle, and the lift is designed to be driven on from either direction. Each of the four arms ends in a rotating disc pad and carries an automatic restraint that locks the arm against swiveling once the pads take the load. Drop-in truck adapters in 1.5-inch, 3-inch and 6-inch heights stack onto the pads to reach the frame on trucks and SUVs, and they are included with the lift rather than sold separately.

Lifting hardware and safety systems

Lifting is driven by leaf chains running over sheaves on twin hydraulic cylinders, with equalizing cables keeping both carriages level as the lift rises. Each column carries 21 lock positions with a dual-point lock release, so the carriages set on a mechanical latch at whatever working height you choose and release together rather than one side at a time. A padded overhead cut-off bar with an electric safety switch stops the lift before a roof or a raised hood contacts the crossbeam. The column-mounted hydraulic power unit is a 3 HP single-phase unit with a steel reservoir and push-button control, and it takes about 12 quarts of AW32 non-detergent hydraulic fluid. Rubber door guards are fitted to the columns.

What your shop needs before it arrives

Check three things before ordering. Ceiling: plan on at least 144 inches β€” 12 feet β€” of clear height, since the lift itself stands 142 inches and the overhead cut-off bar needs room above the columns. Floor: a minimum 4-inch concrete slab rated at 3,000 PSI, fully cured. The columns are held by floor anchors only, so the lift cannot be installed on asphalt or an unstable surface; anchor bolts are included. Power: a 110-volt single-phase circuit connected by a qualified electrician to local code and protected by a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. The lift and power unit are rated for indoor use only β€” outdoor or wet-location use voids coverage on the power unit and motor.

Key features

  • 9,000 lb rated capacity β€” covers cars, light trucks and SUVs when all four pads are set on the manufacturer's recommended lift points.
  • 99-inch drive-thru β€” overhead crossbeam design keeps the floor between the columns clear, with 111 inches between posts.
  • 72-inch lifting height, 4.5-inch lowered pads β€” full standing height under the vehicle, and low enough to slide under low-clearance cars. About 50 seconds to raise.
  • 21 lock positions with dual-point release β€” mechanical latches hold the carriages at your working height and release both sides together.
  • Padded overhead cut-off bar β€” an electric safety switch stops the lift before a roof or raised hood reaches the crossbeam.
  • Truck adapters included β€” drop-in adapters in 1.5-inch, 3-inch and 6-inch heights raise the contact pads to frame height on trucks and SUVs.
  • 110V single-phase, 3 HP power unit β€” column-mounted with a steel reservoir and push-button control; no three-phase service required.

FAQ about this model

What electrical service does the NTO-9AE need?
The power unit runs on a 110-volt single-phase circuit and is rated 3 HP. Have a qualified electrician make the connection to local code, protected by a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker β€” electrical work not done by a certified electrician is not covered by the warranty.

How much ceiling height do I need for this lift?
Plan for at least 144 inches, or 12 feet, of clear ceiling. The lift stands 142 inches tall and the overhead cut-off bar needs room above the columns.

What kind of concrete does it require?
A minimum 4-inch slab rated at 3,000 PSI, fully cured. The columns are held by floor anchors only, so the lift cannot be installed on asphalt or an unstable surface. Anchor bolts are included.

Will it lift a pickup truck?
Yes, within the 9,000 lb rating. The drop-in truck adapters in 1.5-, 3-, and 6-inch heights raise the contact pads to reach the frame on trucks and SUVs. Always use all four pads on the manufacturer's recommended lift points.

How low do the arms go for low-clearance cars?
The pads lower to 4.5 inches off the floor. Front arms telescope from 29 to 51.5 inches and rear arms from 27 to 41.5 inches to reach the lift points.

Is the NTO-9AE ALI certified?
The supplier states the lift is built in an ISO 9001-certified factory and that the power unit carries the CE mark. ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) certification is not listed for this model.

What's included in the box?
Two columns with the overhead crossbeam, four telescoping swing arms with rotating disc pads, the hydraulic power unit with motor and steel reservoir, leaf chains, equalizing cables and sheaves, the padded cut-off bar with electric safety switch, drop-in truck adapters, rubber door guards, floor anchor bolts and hardware, and the installation and owner's manual.

How does it ship and what do I need to unload it?
It ships freight on a common carrier as a roughly 1,407 lb shipment. The driver delivers curbside and does not unload β€” you need a forklift, tractor or similar equipment, since lift-gate service is not available for auto lifts. You schedule the delivery appointment directly with the carrier.

What does the warranty cover?
One year on parts (no labor), with a 2-year structural warranty when the lift is installed indoors. Cylinders carry a 30-day full warranty, after which a seal kit is supplied; rubber lifting pads are not covered. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and requires indoor installation.
