Product Overview
In short
The Triumph NTC-950-2 / NTB-550 combo pairs a dual-assist-arm tire changer with a computer wheel balancer so one bay can mount, demount, and balance passenger and light-truck wheels start to finish. Both machines run on 110V, so the combo drops into most shops without new electrical service.

What you get in the combo

This package covers the full tire job in a single bay: the NTC-950-2 tire changer handles mounting and demounting, and the NTB-550 wheel balancer finishes the wheel before it goes back on the vehicle. The changer ships with a steel mount and demount head, a plastic mount and demount head, plastic wheel clamp covers, a soap tank with application brush, and a tire tool bar. The balancer includes a plastic safety hood, quick-release wing nut, cone adapters, a wheel weight hammer, and a rim caliper. Both machines run on 110V power, so a shop adding tire service does not need a new circuit or a three-phase drop to put the pair to work.

Tire changer capability and clamping range

The NTC-950-2 uses dual pneumatic assist arms that hold the bead and support the tire through the mount and demount cycle, which is what makes wide-profile, low-profile, and run-flat tires manageable without wrestling them by hand. A side-mounted bead breaker applies 5,500 lbs of force to separate stubborn beads, and the bead blast system fires a burst of air into the sidewall to help break and seat beads. The turntable clamps 16"–28" from the inside and 14"–26" from the outside, taking wheel widths up to 15" and tire diameters up to 43". A 1.5 HP motor and a 120 PSI maximum air supply drive it through high-volume work.

Balancer accuracy and operation

The NTB-550 reads imbalance to ±1 gram and completes a spin cycle in 6–9 seconds, so it keeps pace with a busy changer rather than becoming the bottleneck. A wheel brake holds the assembly still while you place weights, which keeps each correction where you put it. The display switches between standard and metric units. Note that the balancer uses manual data entry — there is no automatic data entry, so you measure and enter rim width, diameter, and offset before each spin using the included rim caliper. It accepts wheels from 10" to 28" with rim widths of 1.5" to 20", tire diameters up to 44", a 36 mm shaft, and a 150 lb maximum wheel weight, driven by a 1/4 HP motor.

Wheels it services and wheels it does not

Per the Triumph fitment guide, the NTC-950-2 services passenger cars and 1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-ton truck wheels, Load Range C, D, and E tires, wheels from 14" to 24" plus 16.5", and run-flat tires. It does not service box-truck, over-the-road-truck, 19.5", 21.5", or implement wheels, and motorcycle wheels require an additional adapter. The NTB-550 covers the same passenger and light-truck range and handles run-flats, with a 75 lb total-weight limit on Load Range C–E and larger wheels; motorcycle wheels also require an adapter there. If your work includes medium-duty or 19.5" commercial wheels, this pair is not the right fit — check the fitment guide against the wheels you actually see.

Key features

  • Dual pneumatic assist arms — hold the bead and support the tire through mount and demount, making wide-profile, low-profile, and run-flat tires easier to handle.
  • Bead blast system — shoots a strong burst of air into the sidewall to help break and seat beads.
  • 5,500 lb bead breaker — side-mounted, applies 5,500 lbs of force to separate beads from the rim.
  • Wide clamping range — clamps 16"–28" inside and 14"–26" outside, handling wheel widths up to 15" and tire diameters up to 43".
  • 1.5 HP changer motor — runs on a 120 PSI air supply for high-volume work.
  • ±1 gram balancing — the NTB-550 finishes a spin cycle in 6–9 seconds with a wheel brake that holds the assembly steady during weight placement.
  • 110V on both machines — no special electrical service required in most shops.

FAQ about this model

What power does the combo need?
Both machines run on standard 110V power, so no special electrical service is required in most shops.

How much air pressure does the tire changer need?
The NTC-950-2 is rated to a maximum of 120 PSI and is driven by a 1.5 HP motor. The dual assist arms and bead blast system are pneumatic, so a shop air supply is required.

What size wheels fit the changer and the balancer?
The NTC-950-2 clamps wheels from 16" to 28" inside and 14" to 26" outside, up to a 15" width and a 43" tire diameter. The NTB-550 balances wheels from 10" to 28" with rim widths of 1.5" to 20" and tire diameters up to 44".

Can it handle run-flat and low-profile tires?
Yes. The dual pneumatic assist arms and bead blast system are built to manage run-flat, low-profile, and wide-profile tires, and run-flat wheels are listed as compatible with the NTC-950-2 in the Triumph fitment guide.

Does the balancer enter wheel data automatically?
No. The NTB-550 uses manual data entry, so you enter the wheel parameters before each spin. A rim caliper is included for measuring.

How much floor space does the pair take?
Assembled, the NTC-950-2 measures 56" x 93" x 80" and the NTB-550 measures 28" x 47" x 56". Shipping weights are 900 lbs for the changer and 325 lbs for the balancer.

Will it service medium-duty or 19.5" truck wheels?
No. Per the Triumph fitment guide, the NTC-950-2 does not service box-truck, over-the-road-truck, 19.5", 21.5", or implement wheels. It covers passenger cars and 1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-ton truck wheels in Load Range C, D, and E.

What's included with each machine?
The tire changer comes with a steel mount and demount head, a plastic mount and demount head, plastic wheel clamp covers, a soap tank with application brush, and a tire tool bar. The balancer includes a plastic safety hood, quick-release wing nut, cone adapters, a wheel weight hammer, and a rim caliper.

How does the combo ship?
It ships as freight on an LTL common carrier with lift gate service. The driver lowers each machine to the ground at the rear of the truck but does not move equipment into your shop or assemble it. Freight-terminal pickup is available if you prefer to collect the order, and you schedule the delivery appointment with the carrier.
