Product Overview
In short
The Triumph NTC-950 is a stand-alone, swing-arm rim-clamp tire changer for passenger cars and light trucks, with an inside clamping range of 16–28" and no helper arm. It runs on 110V shop power and pairs an air-powered 5,500-lb bead breaker with a built-in bead blast system.

What the NTC-950 is built for

The NTC-950 is the entry point into the Triumph rim-clamp line: a stand-alone four-jaw clamping turntable with no helper arm, aimed at shops getting into tire service without overbuying a machine. It mounts and demounts passenger-car and light-truck tires and is rated for vehicles up to 1 ton, including Load Range C, D, and E tires. As tire volume grows, the design accepts one or two helper arms, so the machine can be expanded rather than replaced. If you would rather buy the expanded configuration up front, the same machine is stocked pre-fitted with a single assist arm as the NTC-950-1 or with two arms as the NTC-950-2. For a one- or two-bay commercial shop doing car and light-truck work, the stand-alone version is designed for single-operator use as delivered.

Clamping range, tire sizes, and what it will not do

The turntable clamps rims from 16 to 28 inches on the inside and 14 to 26 inches on the outside. Maximum wheel width is 15 inches and maximum tire diameter is 43 inches. In terms of fitment, the machine is rated for 14- to 24-inch and 16.5-inch wheels on passenger cars and light trucks up to 1 ton. Motorcycle wheels can be serviced with an additional adapter. Know the limits before you buy: the NTC-950 is not rated for box trucks, over-the-road trucks, 19.5- or 21.5-inch wheels, implement tires, or run-flat tires. Those jobs call for a larger machine in the Triumph tire-changer line. Run-flats specifically are handled by the two-arm NTC-950-2, not by the stand-alone machine or the single-arm NTC-950-1.

Power, air, and shop requirements

The clamping turntable is driven by a 1.5 HP motor on 110 volts, so most one- and two-bay shops can plug the machine in without adding a new circuit or bringing in an electrician for 220V service. The bead breaker is air-powered and delivers 5,500 lbs of force, and the built-in bead blast system uses a burst of air to help seat stubborn beads. Maximum air pressure is 120 PSI. An inline air filter and regulator with an oiler and water separator conditions incoming shop air before it reaches the cylinders and valves. Assembled, the machine measures 56" x 40" x 80", so plan the bay space and overhead clearance around that footprint and height before the crate arrives.

Build details and serviceability

The bead-breaker cylinder, rim-clamp cylinder, and foot-pedal valve are aluminum, and the external air lines use all-metal fittings rather than plastic push-connects. Plastic clamp covers sit over the steel jaws to shield rims during clamping. A removable front access plate lifts off for direct access to the foot-pedal valve assembly, which is the part most likely to need attention over the life of the machine — that access alone saves teardown time on a routine valve service. The NTC-950 carries Triumph's standard 1-year parts warranty. It ships by freight in a crate measuring 51" x 38" x 51" with a shipping weight of 700 lbs, and shipping is free to the lower 48 United States.

Key features

  • 5,500-lb bead breaker — air-powered bead breaker delivers 5,500 lbs of force to break beads on cars and light trucks.
  • Bead blast seating system — a built-in air burst helps seat the bead on hard-to-mount tires.
  • 1.5 HP motor on 110V — drives the clamping turntable for steady commercial use on standard shop power.
  • Expandable design — ships stand-alone with no helper arm and accepts one or two helper arms as tire volume grows.
  • Aluminum cylinders — aluminum bead-breaker cylinder, rim-clamp cylinder, and foot-pedal valve.
  • All-metal external fittings and plastic clamp covers — metal air fittings throughout the external air lines; plastic covers shield rims from the steel jaws.
  • Removable front access plate — lifts off for direct access to the foot-pedal valve assembly, simplifying service.
  • Oiler and water separator — inline air filter and regulator conditions incoming shop air.

FAQ about this model

Does the NTC-950 include a helper arm?
No. It is a stand-alone clamp machine designed for single-operator use. You can run it as-is and add one or two helper arms later, or order it pre-configured as the NTC-950-1 with one arm or the NTC-950-2 with two.

What power does the NTC-950 need?
Standard 110V shop power. The clamping turntable is driven by a 1.5 HP motor, so most one- and two-bay shops can plug it in without electrical work.

How much air pressure does it require?
Maximum air pressure is 120 PSI. The bead breaker is air-powered, and the machine includes an inline air filter and regulator with an oiler and water separator to condition incoming shop air.

What tire and wheel sizes will it handle?
It clamps rims from 16 to 28 inches on the inside and 14 to 26 inches on the outside, with a maximum wheel width of 15 inches and a maximum tire diameter of 43 inches. That covers passenger cars and light trucks up to 1 ton on 14- to 24-inch and 16.5-inch wheels.

Can the NTC-950 mount run-flat tires?
No. The stand-alone NTC-950 and the single-arm NTC-950-1 are not rated for run-flat tires. The two-arm NTC-950-2 is, so choose that configuration if run-flats are part of your regular work.

Can it change motorcycle tires?
Yes, with an additional motorcycle adapter.

What can't this machine service?
It is not rated for box trucks, over-the-road trucks, 19.5- or 21.5-inch wheels, implement tires, or run-flat tires. Those applications call for a larger machine in the Triumph tire-changer line.

How much space does it need in the bay?
Assembled dimensions are 56" x 40" x 80", so plan for that footprint plus room to work around the turntable and overhead clearance for the 80-inch height.

How does the NTC-950 ship?
It ships by freight in a crate measuring 51 by 38 by 51 inches with a shipping weight of 700 lbs. Shipping is free to the lower 48 United States.
