Product Overview
In short
The Triumph NTB-800 is a computer wheel balancer with automatic data entry — you enter rim width only, and the gauge arm captures rim diameter and offset distance on contact. It handles 10"–28" wheels up to 150 lbs on standard 110V power.

How automatic data entry changes the workflow

Every computer balancer needs three inputs before a spin: rim diameter, rim width, and the distance from the wheel to the machine. On the closely related NTB-550, the operator keys in all three by hand. The NTB-800 automates two of them — you enter the rim width, then touch the distance gauge arm to the mounted wheel and the machine captures rim diameter and offset distance on its own. Triumph estimates this trims about 25% from per-wheel setup time. The bigger benefit in a busy bay is error reduction: manual entry is the most common source of operator input error, and a mistyped diameter produces a weight callout that will not solve the vibration. Two fewer keystrokes per wheel removes that failure mode.

What it fits and what it does not

The NTB-800 balances wheels from 10 to 28 inches, with rim widths of 1.5 to 20 inches and tires up to 44 inches in overall diameter, at a maximum wheel weight of 150 pounds. Triumph's fitment guide rates it for passenger cars and 1/2-, 3/4-, and 1-ton trucks, standard 14–24-inch and 16.5-inch automotive wheels, and run-flat and load-range C/D/E tires. A motorcycle mode is built in, though balancing motorcycle wheels also requires an optional motorcycle wheel adapter sold separately. It is not rated for box-truck, over-the-road semi truck, 19.5-inch, 21.5-inch, or implement and agricultural wheels. Shops that see those wheels need a larger-capacity machine such as the Triumph NTB-1200 truck wheel balancer.

Balancing modes, accuracy, and readout

Each spin runs a 6–9 second cycle and resolves imbalance to plus or minus 1 gram. Weight amount and position appear on a dual inner/outer LED display that reads in grams or ounces, so you can work in whichever unit your weight inventory is labeled in. Mode selection from the control panel covers Dynamic, Static, ALU 1–3, ALUS, OPT, split/hidden-weight (HID), and Motorcycle — enough to handle clip weights on a steel wheel, tape weights tucked behind alloy spokes, and hidden-weight placement on wheels where a visible weight is unacceptable. An adjustable least-weight threshold lets you set the point at which small residual imbalances read as zero, so the machine stops chasing amounts that make no difference on the road.

Power, footprint, and setup

The NTB-800 runs on a standard 110V wall outlet and uses a 1/4 horsepower motor, so no dedicated 220V circuit or electrician is required — it plugs into an ordinary receptacle with a North American plug installed. The machine has no built-in surge protection, so Triumph recommends running it through a surge protector, and it should not be hard-wired to the electrical source. Assembled dimensions are 28" x 48" x 62"; it arrives in a 30" x 39" x 51" crate at 300 pounds shipping weight. Set it on a flat, stable floor. Bolting down is not required by default, but if the machine shakes or shifts while spinning a wheel, the manual calls for anchoring it to the ground for accurate results.

Key features

  • Automatic data entry — enter rim width only; the gauge arm captures rim diameter and offset distance on contact, cutting setup time about 25% and removing the most common source of input error
  • Foot-pedal wheel brake — locks the shaft so the wheel holds position while you apply stick-on or clip weights
  • ±1-gram accuracy on a 6–9 second cycle — resolves small imbalances without a long spin
  • Eight balancing modes — Dynamic, Static, ALU 1–3, ALUS, OPT, split/hidden-weight (HID), and Motorcycle, selectable from the control panel
  • Dual inner/outer LED display — reads weight amount and position in grams or ounces
  • Adjustable least-weight threshold — small residual imbalances read as zero instead of calling for weights that do not matter
  • 110V operation on a 1/4 HP motor — plugs into a standard wall outlet, no dedicated high-voltage circuit

FAQ about this model

What power does the NTB-800 require?
It runs on a standard 110V wall outlet with a 1/4-horsepower motor and ships with a North American plug installed. The machine has no built-in surge protection, so Triumph recommends plugging it into a surge protector, and it should not be hard-wired to the electrical source.

Does the NTB-800 have to be bolted to the floor?
Set it on a flat, stable floor. If the machine shakes or shifts while spinning a wheel, the manual calls for bolting it to the ground for accurate results.

How much space does it need?
Assembled size is 28" x 48" x 62". It arrives crated at 30" x 39" x 51" with a 300 lb shipping weight, so plan a path wide enough for the crate.

What is the difference between the NTB-800 and the NTB-550?
Both need rim diameter, rim width, and wheel distance before a spin. The NTB-550 requires you to enter all three by hand; the NTB-800 needs only the rim width, then captures diameter and offset automatically when you touch the distance ruler to the wheel.

What size wheels and tires will it balance?
Wheels from 10 to 28 inches with rim widths of 1.5 to 20 inches, tires up to 44 inches in diameter, and a maximum wheel weight of 150 pounds. The shaft size is 36 mm.

Can it balance motorcycle and run-flat wheels?
Yes. The NTB-800 has a dedicated motorcycle mode, though balancing motorcycle wheels also requires an optional motorcycle wheel adapter sold separately. Run-flat and load-range C/D/E tires are supported per Triumph's fitment guide.

Will it handle semi truck or 19.5-inch wheels?
No. The NTB-800 is not rated for box-truck, over-the-road semi truck, 19.5-inch, 21.5-inch, or implement and agricultural wheels. Those require a larger-capacity machine such as the Triumph NTB-1200 truck wheel balancer.

How is the NTB-800 delivered?
It ships by LTL freight on a common carrier with lift-gate service, so the driver lowers it to the ground at the back of the truck but does not move it inside or assemble it. You schedule the delivery appointment directly with the freight carrier. Shipping is free to the lower 48 United States.

What does the warranty cover?
The NTB-800 carries Triumph's 1-year parts warranty, parts only with no labor. Triumph troubleshoots by phone and ships covered replacement parts at no charge by ground service. Wear and consumable items are excluded: the quick-release wing nut, wheel hood cover, top tray cover, and wheel-weight hammer.
