Overhead garage storage lifts move heavy items up to the ceiling and bring them back down without a ladder. This collection carries 62 overhead garage storage products from Auxx Lift and E-Z Storage, ranging from $2 replacement parts to complete systems at $2,389. You'll find motorized platforms with wireless remotes, drill-powered garage storage lifts in 4'x4', 4'x6' and 4'x8' platform sizes, fixed overhead racks, and add-ons like bike slides, tote slides, hook kits and cable extensions. Compare by capacity, drop length, ceiling height, and whether you want motorized or drill-driven operation.

Overhead garage storage splits into two families, and this collection carries both. A garage storage lift is a platform that lowers to working height on cables, gets loaded while you stand on the floor, then carries the load back to the ceiling. A fixed rack — the Heavy-Duty 4'X4' Pro and 4'X6' Pro racks, or the E-Z Storage 4'x 8' Overhead Rack listed at 1,000 pound capacity — stays at ceiling height permanently and costs less. Pick a rack for light bins you handle once or twice a year and can pass up safely. Pick a lift for anything heavy, bulky or awkward: wheels and tires, coolers, holiday totes, a Jeep hardtop. In most garages the ladder, not the shelf, is the actual hazard, and a lift removes it from the job.
Two numbers decide whether a garage platform lift fits: your finished ceiling height and the drop you need to reach a comfortable loading position. Manufacturers publish both, and they are not interchangeable — a longer drop is for a taller garage, not for more clearance under a normal one. Measure from the slab to the ceiling surface, and separately check what hangs below it: garage door track, opener rail, lights, and the swing path of the door itself.

What sits above the drywall matters as much as the height below it. Attachment has to reach real framing — joists or truss members — never drywall or furring alone, and the fasteners and spacing in the installation manual are part of the rating. If your garage roof is trussed, the bottom chord was engineered by the truss designer for a specific load and is not automatically a storage deck; the International Residential Code addresses ceiling and attic loading, and the truss drawings or a local engineer are the right source for your building. Buyers get this wrong more often than they get capacity wrong.
A motorized garage storage lift runs on a wall switch or remote, which is what most people picture when they search for an automated garage storage lift. The Auxx-Lift Motorized Garage Storage Platform uses dual synchronized IP44 motors with long-range wireless remote control, and its published safety set includes Auto High & Low Points, Auto-Stop Safety and Active-Press Technology. The Auxx-One uses a single tubular IP44 motor at 680 watts with a wireless remote and programmable high and low limits. The Auxx Lift attic system runs dual synchronized tubular motors at 235W and 2.3 amps — a light electrical draw, but you still need a receptacle within reach of the unit.
Drill-powered systems trade the remote for simplicity. The 4'X8' E-Z Lift Pro and the 4'X6' E-Z Lift MAX are driven by a standard drill, and the E-Z Storage 4' x 8' Retractable Ceiling Storage Garage Lift accepts a standard drill or an optional hand crank with no electricity required. There is no motor to service and no power outage to work around. The tradeoff is that you stand there running the drill through the full travel, so drop length affects how long each cycle takes. If you load and unload weekly, motorized earns its price; if it's twice a season, drill-powered usually doesn't.
Read capacity as a rated, evenly distributed load, because that is how it is published: 700 lbs on the 4'X8' E-Z Lift Pro, 800 lbs total load on the 4' x 8' Retractable lift, 400 lbs on the 4'X6' E-Z Lift MAX, and 400 lbs (Model 1400) or 600 lbs (Model 1600) on the Auxx-Lift Motorized Platform. Concentrating that weight in one corner is not the same as spreading it, and the rating assumes spreading.
Cable specs are published separately from platform capacity and should not be added together or read as a working limit. The Auxx-Lift Motorized Platform lists cable strength of 2,000 lbs on Model 1400 cables and 4,200 lbs on Model 1600 cables; the Auxx-One uses 3/16" vinyl-coated 7x19 aircraft cable with 4,200 lbs tensile strength per cable; the attic system uses four hot-dipped galvanized aircraft cables. Those margins exist for shock loading and wear, not for exceeding the platform rating. Workplace rules such as OSHA 1910.178, which governs powered industrial trucks like forklifts, do not apply to a ceiling storage lift in a home garage — which means the manufacturer's rated capacity, fastener schedule and mounting instructions are the only limits you have. Follow them literally, keep cables clear of obstructions, and keep people and vehicles out from under a moving platform.
Most of the catalog depth here is accessories, and they change what a system is good for. Bike storage runs through the E-Z Garage Storage Bike Slide, Bike Slide Pro, Bike Kit Pro and the Bike Slide Hooks 2-pack. Bins and totes are handled by the Tote Slide Pro, Glide Tote Slide and Bin Slide. The Hook Kit System (HOOK-1) covers ladders, hoses and odd-shaped gear, while the Heavy Duty Wall Shelf and Wall Shelf Combo move overflow off the floor without touching the ceiling at all. On the Auxx Lift side, the Auxx-Fence, Auxx-Guard, Auxx-Cover and Auxx Rack Post extend the platform, and Motor Assemblies are listed in 400 lbs and 600 lbs versions. Cable Extensions are model-specific — there are separate versions for the Attic-Lift and for the Auxx-One — so match the extension to your unit rather than buying generically.
Local searches for a motorized garage storage lift are usually installation questions in disguise: will it fit this garage, and what is it bolting into? Two regional patterns are worth checking before you order. Garages with trussed roofs and no accessible attic floor need the load path confirmed against the truss drawings before anything gets mounted. Unheated garages along the Front Range and northern Colorado run cold, and an IP44 rating describes protection against water spray, not a temperature rating — check the manufacturer's stated operating range if the space drops well below freezing. If you already have an attic hatch or pull-down opening, the Auxx Lift attic system is built around that: it fits openings from 24" to 216" on an adjustable aluminum frame with 13, 16 or 20 ft of vertical travel, so the opening you have often decides the model.
