Is the $160.54 starting price for a complete dock shelter?
No — $160.54 is model D-AP, armor pleats, which is an option rather than a complete unit. The retractable dock shelter itself is model D-520-24 at $1,978.69. Seven models are listed in total, spanning $160.54 to $1,978.69, and most of them are add-ons. Order by model number so you receive the shelter and not an accessory.
How far does the shelter project from the building?
The D-520-24 retractable dock shelter is listed at 24 in length. That is the only projection figure in the product data. Measure from your door face out to where a parked trailer's rear normally stops, and confirm 24 in covers that gap at your building. No other lengths appear among the seven listed models.
What if my dock door is wider than the standard opening?
A 10 ft width option is listed as model D-18H at $169.90, described as an optional dock seal/shelter at that width. It is ordered alongside the shelter rather than in place of it. The product data does not list widths for the other six models, so check your door opening against the specific model you select.
What options can be added to the shelter?
Six options are listed alongside the shelter: armor pleats (D-AP, $160.54), 10 ft width (D-18H, $169.90), a bottom bun (D-BBF, $222.42), draft pads sold per pair (D-520-24-DP, $300.61), full height pleats and guide strips at 24 in (D-FHPS, $477.82), and full height pleats and guide strips (D-FHPFS, $582.91). Each is priced and ordered separately from the D-520-24.
What warranty comes with it, and where is it made?
Coverage is a 1-Year Limited warranty, and the equipment is made in the USA by Vestil Manufacturing. The product data does not state what the limited warranty excludes or how claims are processed, so request the written warranty terms if that affects your decision. The same coverage is listed across all seven models in the line.
Is a retractable shelter right for my dock, or should I consider a seal?
A retractable shelter suits docks that receive trailers of varying sizes, because it frames the opening rather than compressing against a single trailer profile. The product data classifies this line as dock seal/shelter combinations, so both approaches are represented. It does not list door sizes, trailer types or building conditions, so match the model to your own measurements before ordering.
