Cranes for shops, warehouses and job sites: Vovlift lists 101 active gantry cranes, jib cranes, shop cranes and specialty hoists from All Lift Cranes, Vestil and Abaco Machines, priced from $122 to $25,698. Sort by lift type before you sort by price. A portable gantry crane travels between work cells, a jib crane covers one fixed radius off a column or wall, and a hydraulic shop crane handles engines and short repetitive lifts. Capacities, spans, hub heights and model numbers are published on each product page, so you can match beam length and headroom to the bay first.

Most buyers land on this page knowing they need to lift something and not yet knowing which machine geometry fits. Start with the shape of the work, not the weight. If the lift point moves around the building — receiving today, a press line next week — a portable gantry crane gives you coverage anywhere the casters will roll. If the lift happens at one machine, one workbench or one truck bay, a jib crane is cheaper, takes no floor space in the aisle, and stays out of the way when it is parked. If the lifts are short, low and mechanical — pulling engines, lifting a transmission onto a bench — a wheeled hydraulic shop crane does the job for a fraction of either.
Second question: how the crane is powered. Hand-chain and hand-pump hydraulics cost the least and need no infrastructure. Air-over-hydraulic units, like the Vestil EHN-40-C-AH air/hand pump hydraulic shop crane rated at 4,000 lb, let an operator run the lift without pumping a handle when the duty cycle picks up. Electric floor cranes and powered traction drives on gantries are worth it once operators are making the same lift dozens of times a shift and fatigue starts driving the schedule.
Gantry cranes in this collection break into a few families worth understanding before you filter by price. Fixed-height steel gantries are the most rigid and the least expensive per pound of capacity, and they come with different caster packages — total locking casters for a crane that must not creep during a lift, V-groove casters for a crane that runs a track line, pneumatic casters for rough or uneven surfaces. Knockdown versions ship and store flat, which matters if the crane lives in a truck or gets moved between sites.
Adjustable-leg gantries trade some rigidity for the ability to duck under a door header and then raise to clear a machine. Aluminum gantries weigh far less than steel at the same rating, so one or two people can reposition them; Vestil's aluminum work area portable gantry cranes are rated 2,000 lb across 8 ft and 10 ft beams, at $2,605.02 to $2,936.32. Measure your true available headroom before shopping — hook height is what you actually get, and it is always less than the beam height once you subtract the trolley and the hoist body.
A jib crane rotates a boom around a fixed pivot, so it serves a circle rather than a rectangle. Floor mounted jibs bolt to a foundation and give the widest rotation. Wall jibs and tie rod jibs mount to existing building steel or a column and cost less because you are not paying for a mast, but they demand that someone confirm the structure can take the moment load — that is an engineering question for your building, not a catalog spec.
The All Lift Cranes L-Series light duty floor mounted jib crane is a useful reference point for how span drives everything else. At 1/4 ton capacity, the published models scale like this:
| Model | Hub Height | Span | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| L586 | 8 ft | 6 ft | 478 lb |
| L5810 | 8 ft | 10 ft | 542 lb |
| L5816 | 8 ft | 16 ft | 818 lb |
| L51016 | 10 ft | 16 ft | 862 lb |
Same rated capacity, nearly double the shipping weight and foundation load from the shortest span to the longest. Buying more span than the work needs is the most common way to overspend on a jib crane.
Beyond gantries and jibs, this collection covers the lifts that solve one specific problem. Counter-balanced floor cranes reach into a machine without a long leg in the way. Electric powered floor cranes remove the hand pump from repetitive work. Portable cantilever hoists and mini overhead cantilever jibs work in tight cells. There are also purpose-built units: the Vestil PJ-LIFT pallet truck hoist at 500 lb capacity and $827.80, and the Vestil DPH-X-11 deluxe drywall and panel hoist at $449.98, which tilts and rotates for ceiling and wall panel work.
For field service, hitch-mounted truck jib cranes turn a pickup into a lift point. The Vestil WTJ-HITCH runs $864.15, with winch-equipped versions at $1,144.29 and $1,366.65. These Vestil units are made in the USA and carry a 1-year limited warranty as listed in their product data.
Buy the crane, then budget for everything around it. OSHA 1910.179 covers overhead and gantry cranes and requires, among other things, that the rated load be plainly marked and visible, and it prohibits carrying loads over people. ASME B30.16 covers overhead underhung hoists and is the standard your hoist and its inspection intervals will be written against. Slings and rigging hardware are governed separately — OSHA 1910.184 and ASME B30.9 address slings, and they are the reason a crane purchase almost always turns into a rigging purchase too.
Physically: confirm floor flatness and slab condition for anything on casters, confirm anchor and foundation requirements for a floor mounted jib before it ships, and confirm clear rotation for a jib arc including where a suspended load will swing. Inspection and maintenance are ongoing obligations, not one-time setup.
The price span here runs from $122 to $25,698, and the two ends are different purchases entirely — accessories and small hoists at one end, engineered steel structures at the other. Three mistakes recur. First, sizing to the heaviest load ever lifted rather than the daily load, which buys capacity you pay to move around forever. Second, ignoring hook height until the crane arrives and the hoist will not clear the load. Third, forgetting that a gantry's usable capacity depends on the trolley and hoist you pair with it — the structure rating is a ceiling, not a guarantee that any hoist you bolt under it will match. Confirm capacity, span, hook height and caster type on the model page, then call with the load and the bay dimensions if anything is borderline.
