FAQ about this model
How much can this hoist lift?
Rated capacity is 5 ton (10,000 lbs). That is the maximum working load for the hoist as supplied, so everything below the hook counts against it — slings, shackles, a spreader bar, or any other below-hook attachment plus the load itself. If your regular lifts sit close to 10,000 lbs, choose a larger capacity rather than running at the rated limit.
What power supply does it need?
It runs on single-phase power at 115v and is adjustable to 230v. You can wire it to standard single-phase shop power, so no three-phase service or phase converter is required. Confirm which of the two voltages you will use and have the unit set accordingly before installation. The specifications list voltage but not current draw, so check the nameplate for amperage.
How does it mount?
This is a top hook model, so it hangs from a hook-compatible anchor point rather than bolting directly to a beam. Common mounting points are a beam clamp, a welded lug, or the load bar of a gantry or jib crane. A hook mount also makes it straightforward to move the hoist between work stations as jobs change.
What are the load chain and brake?
The load chain is Grade 80 FEC Japanese chain and the brake is an AC electromagnetic type. Grade 80 is the standard alloy grade used for hoist load chain. The electromagnetic brake is designed to hold the load in position when the control is released or when power to the motor is interrupted, rather than relying on the motor to stall.
Where can it be installed?
The hoist is rated for -4° to +104° F (-20° C to +40° C) and up to 85% humidity, non-condensing. That covers most unheated warehouses, shops, and covered outdoor bays, but not freezer rooms or wash-down and steam areas where moisture condenses on the unit. The specifications do not list an ingress protection rating, so plan on a covered, dry installation.
What warranty comes with it, and what about inspections?
The hoist carries a 12 month warranty. The specifications do not state what that warranty covers or excludes, so confirm the terms before purchase if coverage detail matters to you. Inspection is separate from warranty: ASME publishes B30.16, the standard covering overhead hoists, and its inspection intervals and record-keeping requirements are not part of this product listing.
