FAQ about this model
How much can this hoist lift, and how do I know it fits my load?
Rated capacity is 400 lbs (181 kg). Treat that as the maximum for the entire load, meaning the part being lifted plus slings, hooks, spreader bars or any other rigging hanging from the hook. An adjustable friction clutch gives overload protection and will slip if the hoist is asked to pull more, but it is a safeguard, not permission to exceed the rating.
What power supply does it need?
It runs on 115V, 1-phase electric power, so it works from standard single-phase supply rather than three-phase. That makes it practical for workshops, service bays and small facilities without industrial power. Have a qualified electrician confirm your circuit and any extension or drop cord can carry the motor's starting load before you put the hoist into service.
How high does it lift and how fast?
Standard lift height is 10 ft (3 m) and lift speed is 16 FPM. Measure the vertical distance from your hook-up point down to the floor or bench before ordering, and remember the hoist body itself takes up headroom above the hook. If your travel distance is longer than 10 ft, this standard configuration will not reach.
What safety features are built in?
It uses a dual brake system, combining an electromagnetic brake with a mechanical load brake, so the load is held both under power and mechanically. Mechanical upper and lower limit switches stop chain travel at the ends, and the adjustable friction clutch handles overload. The load chain is G80 heat-treated alloy steel. ASME's B30.16 standard covers overhead hoists and calls for inspection before use.
How is it operated day to day?
Control is by a hand-held pendant with a 6 ft drop, so the operator works from below the hoist rather than at the unit. The pendant is IP65 rated, meaning it is built to resist dust and water jets in a shop environment. Keep the load chain clean and lubricated, and check the chain, hook and brake function as part of routine inspection.
Who is this hoist suited to, and who should look at something else?
It suits light-duty lifting where loads stay under 400 lbs and only single-phase power is available: maintenance bays, small assembly lines, workshops and tool rooms. The die-cast aluminum housing keeps it light to mount and move. Buyers lifting heavier loads, needing more than 10 ft of lift, or running high-cycle production duty should look at a larger unit instead.
