FAQ about this model
What size material will this cutter handle?
It cuts brush and saplings up to 6 inches thick in a 72-inch swath. The 195-72 uses three bi-directional AR400 steel blades driven through a heavy-duty 100-hp gearbox, which suits standing brush, saplings, overgrown fence lines and right-of-way work. Material thicker than 6 inches is outside what this cutter is rated for and should be handled another way.
What hydraulic flow does my skid steer need to run it?
Your loader's auxiliary circuit must supply 16 to 26 GPM. Below that range the cutter loses blade speed and bogs down in heavy brush; above it you are outside the rated flow. Check the auxiliary flow figure on your machine's spec sheet before ordering, since flow rate, not engine horsepower, decides whether this attachment performs as intended.
How much does it weigh, and will my loader carry it?
Net weight is 994 lbs. Compare that against your skid steer's rated operating capacity, and keep in mind the attachment sits forward of the coupler, so the effective load on the machine at full reach is greater than the bare weight. Confirm your loader's rated lift capacity and auxiliary flow together before you order.
What are the blades made of, and what does bi-directional mean?
It runs three blades of AR400 abrasion-resistant steel, and bi-directional means each blade carries a cutting edge on both sides. AR400 is a hardened wear plate used where impact and abrasion are constant, which is what brush cutting produces. Blades are a wear item: inspect them after rough cutting and replace any that are cracked or heavily worn.
What drives the cutter head?
A high-torque Parker hydraulic motor drives the head through a heavy-duty 100-hp gearbox. The motor runs off your loader's auxiliary hydraulics, so there is no separate engine, fuel tank or PTO shaft involved. The 100-hp gearbox figure describes the driveline's capacity; it is not a requirement that your skid steer produce 100 horsepower.
Who is this cutter not right for?
It is not right for tractors, excavators or any carrier without a skid-steer coupler and a 16-26 GPM auxiliary circuit. It is also the wrong tool for material thicker than 6 inches, for finish mowing on maintained turf, and for anyone working trails or fence lines too narrow for a 72-inch cutting width.
