FAQ about this model
How much can this hopper hold, and what does it weigh in at?
Capacity is 1/2 cubic yard, with a weight capacity of 4,000 lbs listed without casters. Both limits apply at the same time, so dense material like scrap metal or wet debris reaches the weight limit before the hopper is visually full. Weigh a typical load first, and confirm your forklift is rated to carry it at the load center the hopper creates.
What are the dimensions, and will it fit through our aisles?
The base measures 42" x 32" and the top measures 49" x 32". Width stays at 32" from top to bottom, so that is the number to compare against doorways, aisle clearances and the gap beside your dumpster. The top is wider than the base, giving a larger opening for loading while the narrow-profile design keeps the footprint tight for storage.
How is the dumping action operated?
Dumping is activated by rope or by rear release, so the operator can trigger it from the forklift or from behind the unit. A safety lock and a safety chain with locking hook secure the hopper in the closed position; both should be engaged before lifting, travelling or raising a load. Release only when the hopper is positioned over the receiving container.
Does it need power, air or hydraulics?
No. The hopper has no motor, battery, hydraulic or pneumatic connection. All lifting and positioning comes from the forklift handling it, and the dump action is mechanical through the rope or rear release. That means no power drops or plumbing to run at the point of use. Operation of the forklift itself remains governed by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's powered industrial truck rules.
What is it made of, and what maintenance does it need?
It is built from heavy-duty steel with reinforced seams. Maintenance is mostly inspection: look over the body and seams for cracks or deformation, keep the release mechanism and pivot points clean and moving freely, and check the safety lock, safety chain and locking hook before each shift. Replace the rope if it shows fraying, especially near the attachment point. Do not load the hopper past its rated limits.
Who is this hopper a good fit for, and who should look at something else?
It fits operations that already run a forklift and need to collect and dump up to 1/2 cubic yard of trash, scrap or offcuts at a time, such as manufacturing floors, warehouses and machine shops. The narrow profile helps where aisles are tight. It is not the right choice without a forklift on site, or for loads exceeding 4,000 lbs.
