FAQ about this model
How much concrete does this hopper hold?
It holds 1.31 cubic yards, with a rated capacity of 5,732 lbs. Work from the weight of your mix, not volume alone — a dense mix can reach the 5,732 lb limit before the hopper looks full. Also confirm your crane, forklift or excavator is rated for that load plus the hopper itself at your working radius.
What are the dimensions, and will it fit my site?
The hopper is 51 in high and 49 in wide. Check your gate openings, doorways and truck bed against those figures, and allow extra headroom above the 51 in height for the hook, shackle or chain used to pick it up. The specifications do not list a depth or empty weight.
What equipment can lift it?
It is listed as compatible with cranes, forklifts and excavators. For forklift handling, the 1530FP fork pocket is available as an optional attachment so the forks engage the hopper directly. Whichever machine you use, confirm its rated capacity covers the full 5,732 lb load plus the hopper before lifting.
How is the concrete released?
Through a lever operated discharge gate with a spring system. The operator opens the gate with the lever to start the pour and the spring system works with the gate on closing, so flow can be started and stopped rather than dumping the whole load at once. The specifications do not state a gate opening size or discharge rate.
Can the side chute be removed?
Yes — the side chute is detachable. It discharges from the center of the hopper, which suits placing concrete beside the pick point, such as into forms or over a wall. Removing it gives you a straight center drop and a smaller footprint for transport and storage, so one hopper covers both pouring methods.
Does it need power, and what maintenance is involved?
No power hookup is required — the gate is worked by hand through the lever and spring system, with no hydraulic, electric or pneumatic connection. The body is heavy duty steel that the specifications state meets ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) safety standards. Maintenance is mainly clearing hardened concrete from the gate, spring and chute, and inspecting the steel and lifting points before each lift.
