FAQ about this model
How much weight can the 1360B jib boom lift?
It is rated at 2,000 / 6,000 lbs. A jib boom loses capacity as it is extended, so the lower figure applies at long reach and the higher figure at short reach — read the load chart on the unit for the extension you plan to use. Your forklift's own reduced capacity with an attachment fitted may be the lower limit.
How far does the boom reach?
The boom is adjustable from 7'0" to 12'0". You set it to a fixed length before lifting rather than extending it under load, so pick the shortest setting that clears your load. Shorter settings keep the load closer to the carriage, which preserves capacity on both the boom and the forklift.
Does mounting it require modifying my forklift?
No. It is forklift-mounted with no permanent modification — it slides onto the forks and is secured, so the truck goes back to normal fork work when you remove it. Note that OSHA's powered industrial truck standard requires attachments to be approved by the truck manufacturer and the truck to be marked with its capacity as equipped.
Why do the center of gravity figures matter?
They tell you how far the boom's weight sits ahead of the forks, which is what derates your forklift. Horizontal center of gravity is 36 5/16" retracted, 43 3/4" at midway, and 54 7/16" fully extended. Vertical center of gravity is on the centerline. Use the figure for your chosen setting when you calculate the truck's capacity.
How much does the jib boom weigh on its own?
Empty weight is 585 lbs. That weight counts against your forklift's rated capacity before you pick anything up, so the load you can actually handle is the truck's rating at the combined center of gravity minus 585 lbs. Check this against your forklift's data plate before the first lift.
What is it made of, and what maintenance does it need?
It is built from heavy-duty tubular steel. Maintenance is mostly visual: inspect the boom, pins, and retaining hardware for cracks, bending, or wear before use, keep the extension pin holes clean, and touch up damaged paint to limit corrosion on units stored outdoors. Remove any unit from service if you find structural damage.
