FAQ about this model
What is the largest material the CGR50 can chip?
Up to 5 inches thick. That is the rated chipping capacity for the CGR50, which covers most limb wood from yard cleanup, storm debris, and lot clearing. Material thicker than 5 inches has to be cut down first or run through a larger machine. Cutting is done by dual-edge steel blades on a dual-belt driven drum.
How much does it reduce the volume of what I feed in?
The reduction ratio is 10:1. Ten loads of brush come out as roughly one load of processed material, which is what determines how often you empty a collection point or haul debris off site. Where that material lands is set by the adjustable dual-direction expulsion chute, so you can aim output into a trailer or onto a pile.
What engine does it have, and how is it started?
A 420cc 14 HP Briggs & Stratton engine with an electric starter. You start it from the starter rather than a recoil pull, which matters on crews where several people run the machine through the day or where repeated restarts slow the work down. Power reaches the cutting drum through a dual-belt drive rather than a single belt.
Can I tow it between job sites?
Yes, it has a tow bar with a 2-inch ball coupler and rides on four ATV-style tubeless tires. The tow bar is removable without tools, so you can take it off to work in tight positions and refit it to move. Confirm your tow vehicle has a matching 2-inch ball. The specifications do not cover highway towing, so check the rules that apply to your vehicle and route.
Can I control which direction the material discharges?
Yes. The expulsion chute is adjustable and dual-direction, so you can send output to one side into a trailer or truck bed, or to the other side onto a pile, without repositioning the whole machine. This is useful when the machine has to stay parked in one spot because of terrain, access, or where the brush is stacked.
Who is this machine sized for, and who should look at something else?
It suits people clearing brush and limb wood up to 5 inches on a regular basis: landscape and grounds crews, acreage owners, and lot clearing work. Buyers who only handle occasional soft yard waste will find a 14 HP towable machine more than they need. Buyers regularly processing trunk wood over 5 inches need a larger machine, since 5 inches is a hard limit here.
