FAQ about this model
What size branches can this chipper handle?
The CGR60 chips branches up to 6.25 inches in diameter. It uses dual-edge steel blades to process material at that size, driven by a 14 HP Briggs & Stratton 420 cc engine. For anything larger than 6.25 inches, you'd need to pre-cut it down before feeding it through the chipper chute.
What engine does it use and how do you start it?
It's powered by a Briggs & Stratton 420 cc engine rated at 14 HP, with an electric starter instead of a pull cord. Power is transferred to the chipping drum through a two-belt driven system with a centrifugal clutch, which engages the drum once the engine reaches operating speed.
How much does it reduce yard waste volume?
The chip-to-shred ratio is 10:1, meaning shredded material takes up roughly a tenth of the space of the original material. This applies to the shredding side of the unit, which is separate from the chipping side used for larger branches up to 6.25 inches in diameter.
Can I tow this behind a vehicle or ATV?
Yes, it's built for towing with a 2 inch ball coupler and ATV-style tubeless tires. This setup lets you move it around a property or job site behind a truck, tractor, or ATV without needing a separate trailer.
What are the blades made of and can they be serviced?
The CGR60 uses dual-edge steel blades for chipping. The dual-edge design means each blade has two cutting surfaces, so when one edge dulls, it can be flipped to expose the second edge before requiring replacement or sharpening.
How does the drum get its power from the engine?
Power goes from the 14 HP Briggs & Stratton engine to the chipping drum through a two-belt drive system with a centrifugal clutch. The clutch engages automatically as engine speed increases, so the drum isn't spinning while the engine idles.
