Hoses & Reels

Vovlift's hoses and reels category covers replacement pressure washer hose and the reels that store it. All 29 active items are BE Power Equipment, priced from $9 to $747. Hoses are stocked in 25, 30, 50 and 100 foot lengths, in 1/4" and 3/8" diameters, with pressure ratings of 3,200, 4,000, 4,500 and 6,000 PSI, in rubber, steel-braid and thermoplastic constructions including non-marking grey covers. Reels run from a 50' self-retracting model to a 200' hand-crank unit, plus reel kits. Compare by your machine's maximum pressure, the run length you actually need, and the fitting on your gun.

What This Hoses & Reels Collection Covers

This collection holds 29 active items, all from BE Power Equipment, spanning $9 to $747. It divides into three groups. First, replacement pressure washer hose in 25, 30, 50 and 100 foot lengths, in 1/4" and 3/8" diameters, rated 3,200, 4,000, 4,500 or 6,000 PSI. Second, hose storage: a 50' self-retractable high pressure reel, a 150' heavy duty high pressure reel, a 200' hand crank reel, and 50' and 100' reel kits, including a 100' high pressure reel kit with whip hose. Third, short specialty assemblies such as the 62" x 3/8" Whirl-A-Way hose and the 36" bypass hose, which serve specific machine and accessory connections rather than general run length.

Matching Pressure Rating and Diameter to Your Machine

Start with the machine's maximum working pressure and buy hose rated at or above it. Fitting a hose rated below the pump's output is the most common mistake in this category. The number printed on a hose is a ceiling, not a target. SAE J517, which defines the 100R series of hydraulic hose constructions used for assemblies of this type, specifies minimum burst pressure at four times the maximum working pressure. That margin exists to absorb the spike when the trigger gun closes and the unloader diverts flow, not to license running a hose above its stated rating.

Diameter drives flow, not just pressure. In this collection 1/4" hose is offered in 25' lengths and 3/8" hose in 30', 50' and 100' lengths. The larger internal diameter loses less pressure over a long run and passes more flow, which is why every 100' option here is 3/8". If you routinely work farther from the machine than one hose length, a single longer 3/8" hose is usually better than coupling two short ones: every added coupler is another leak point and another place to kink.

Rubber, Steel Braid, Thermoplastic and Non-Marking Covers

Construction decides how a hose behaves on site more than any other factor. Single-wire braided rubber is the working default: it stays pliable in cold weather and drags across concrete without cutting through quickly. The 50' 4,500 PSI hoses here list a wrapped rubber outer layer, a reinforced internal structure, and abrasion and kink resistance. Thermoplastic hose, such as the 25' 3,200 PSI 1/4" option, is lighter and easier to handle but holds more coil memory and stiffens more in the cold. Steel braid, as on the 25' x 1/4" 4,000 PSI hose with quick connect fittings, adds burst strength in a compact assembly.

Cover color is a functional choice, not cosmetic. Black rubber leaves scuff marks when dragged across finished concrete, pool decks, storefronts and interior floors; the grey non-marking hoses in this collection, offered at 4,500 and 6,000 PSI in 50' and 100' lengths, exist for that reason. Temperature also varies by product: the 50' 4,500 PSI rubber hoses are rated to 149°C (300°F), which matters on a hot-water machine. Do not assume every hose in the cart shares that rating — check the specification on each listing.

Choosing a Hose Reel: Hand Crank vs. Self-Retracting

Reel capacity is stated for a given hose diameter, so a drum that swallows a 3/8" hose comfortably will hold considerably more 1/4". Match the reel to the hose you actually intend to store, with room to spare — a drum packed to its limit is hard to wind evenly and puts a tight bend near the inlet.

Hand crank reels, offered here in 100' and 200' capacities and in 50' and 100' kits, are mechanically simple: fewer moving parts, nothing under spring tension, and predictable behavior on a trailer or skid mount. The 50' self-retractable reel suits a fixed wash bay or shop wall where you want the hose off the floor between jobs without winding it by hand; retractable reels do need a controlled return so the coupler does not whip back. The 100' high pressure reel kit includes a whip hose, the short flexible section between reel and gun that takes the repeated bending instead of the main hose. Mount any reel to structure that can carry the drum plus a full load of charged hose, and leave clearance for the swivel inlet.

Fittings, Connections and Where Buyers Go Wrong

Length and PSI are only two thirds of the decision — the end fittings decide whether the hose connects at all. This collection includes a 25' 1/4" hose specifically for M22 fittings and several hoses with quick connect ends; the 50' 4,500 PSI rubber hoses list one swivel end, a solid brass coupler and a steel plug. A swivel end reduces the twisting that works a hose loose and fatigues the crimp. The 50' x 3/8" 4,500 PSI hoses include quick-connect fittings and heavy-duty bend restrictors, which protect the crimp collar — the place assemblies usually fail first.

The recurring errors are predictable: ordering on price and length while ignoring the gun's fitting, assuming quick-connects are universal across machines, joining several short hoses instead of buying one correct length, and putting a 4,000 PSI hose on a machine that outputs more. Confirm the machine's maximum pressure, the outlet and gun fittings, and the diameter before comparing prices.

Service Life, Storage and Safe Handling

High-pressure hose is a wear item. Inspect before each use for cover cracking, blisters, exposed wire braid and pinhole leaks, and replace the assembly rather than patching or clamping it — a field repair on a high-pressure line is not a repair. Release pressure by squeezing the trigger after shutdown before disconnecting anything. A pinhole stream can inject fluid beneath the skin, which is a medical emergency even when the entry wound looks trivial. OSHA 1910.242(a) makes the employer responsible for the safe condition of tools and equipment used by employees, and hose assemblies on a jobsite fall under that.

Between jobs, drain the hose in freezing weather, store it off the ground and out of direct sun, and keep it clear of hot exhaust and engine surfaces. Avoid driving over hose: crushed reinforcement often fails days later rather than immediately. A reel is the cheapest life-extension available, because most hose damage happens while the hose is on the ground, not while it is under pressure.
