What is the lifting capacity of this plate clamp?

The capacity is 1 Ton, listed as 2000 lbs / 907 kg. That is the working load limit of the clamp itself, so the plate you lift must stay at or below it. Remember that everything above the clamp — sling, shackle, hook and crane — carries its own rating, and the lowest rated component in the assembly governs the lift.

How thick a plate will it grip?

The jaw opening range is 0-25mm, so it takes plate up to 25mm thick. Anything thicker will not enter the jaw. Grip depends on the jaw and cam making clean contact with the plate, so check that both are free of scale, paint buildup and debris, and that the plate surface itself is sound where the clamp will bite.

Can I use it to lift plate lying flat or to turn a plate over?

No — this is a vertical plate clamp, and the listed application is vertical steel plate lifting. Use it for plate that is lifted and carried in the vertical plane. Lifting sheets stacked flat, or turning plate from horizontal to vertical, falls outside what this model is specified for, and a different clamp type should be selected for that work.

What is the clamp made of, and what safety factor does it carry?

The body is forged alloy steel and the clamp carries a 4:1 safety factor on the working load limit. Forged alloy steel is the usual choice for clamps that see repeated load cycles and shock loading. The 4:1 margin is a design factor, not extra capacity — the rated 1 Ton working load limit remains the maximum you may lift.

Does it meet any lifting standard?

It is listed as compliant with ASME B30.20, the ASME standard for below-the-hook lifting devices. That standard covers marking, construction and operating practice for devices that attach between the hook and the load. Compliance of the device does not cover how it is used, so your own inspection, training and operating procedures still apply on site.

What warranty comes with it, and what maintenance does it need?

The warranty is 12 months. Plate clamps are wear items: the cam teeth and pivot dull with use and grip degrades as they do. Inspect the jaw, cam, spring and body before each shift, keep the gripping surfaces clean, and take the clamp out of service if teeth are rounded, the body is deformed, or cracks appear.

Warranty

All Bison products are covered by a 12-month warranty from the date of shipment against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Bison will repair or replace defective parts at no charge (installation excluded). A return merchandise authorization (RMA) is required before returning any product; items must be shipped freight-prepaid with a written description of the issue. Items returned outside the warranty scope are subject to a 25% restocking fee. Returns are not accepted after 30 days from the date of shipment. Customized items are non-returnable.

How long will it take for my order to ship? When will I receive it?
Most orders are processed within 1-2 business days, starting the business day following the date the order was placed. Once dispatched, standard shipping typically takes an additional 1-5 business days (starting the business day after shipment).
