FAQ about this model
What can the HD300 hold — how much weight and how much volume?
The HD300 is rated for 3 cubic yards and 8,000 lbs. Those two limits apply independently, so whichever you reach first governs the load. Bulky, low-density material fills the 3 cubic yard volume long before it approaches the weight rating, while dense scrap, castings or aggregate reach 8,000 lbs well short of a full hopper.
What are the dimensions, and will it fit through my doors and aisles?
Overall it measures 75 3/4" long, 50 1/4" wide and 47 1/4" high. Dimensions are also listed at the base and at the top: the base is 60" long by 42 1/2" wide, and the top is 73" long by 75 1/2" wide. Compare the largest of those figures against your door openings, aisle widths and storage bay before ordering.
What forklift do I need to handle it?
Fork clearance is 2 3/4", and the hopper weighs 1204 lbs empty. Your forklift has to carry that empty weight in addition to the load, so size the truck against the combined figure at your working load center rather than against the payload alone. Fork pocket width and spacing are not listed in the specifications, so confirm those separately if your forks are unusually wide.
How is it built?
It is made from 7GA and 1/4" steel, 100% MIG welded, and manufactured in the USA. The heavier 1/4" material and continuous welds rather than stitch welds are what carry the 8,000 lb rating through repeated loading and dumping. The specifications do not state a coating or finish, so ask before assuming a painted or galvanized surface.
Who is this size right for, and who should look at something else?
It fits operations moving heavy scrap, metal chips, foundry waste or construction debris by forklift in roughly 3 cubic yard loads. At 1204 lbs empty it is a poor match for light-capacity forklifts. If you are collecting mostly light, bulky material, the 8,000 lb rating is more than you need and a lighter hopper may serve better.
