Manual pallet trucks move loaded pallets across a level floor with nothing but a hand pump and a pull handle — the lowest-cost, lowest-maintenance way to handle freight in a warehouse, stockroom, retail backroom or trailer. This collection covers hand pallet trucks from EOSLift, Vestil, EKKO, Ballymore, Makinex and GNT: standard hand pallet jacks rated 4,400 to 6,600 lb, stainless steel trucks for washdown areas, scissor lift pallet trucks that raise the load to working height, a weighing jack with an onboard scale, and replacement load and steering wheels. Compare capacity, fork size, lowered fork height and wheel material before you buy.

A manual pallet truck — also sold as a hand pallet truck, manual pallet jack, pallet trolley or manual pallet lifter — is a two-fork hydraulic lift on three wheels. The operator pumps the tiller handle to raise the forks a few inches, just enough to clear the pallet off the floor, then pulls or pushes the load to its destination and drops it. There is no motor, no battery and no charger. That simplicity is the point: a hand pallet truck is the cheapest machine that will move a full pallet, and it is the default choice for short moves on smooth, level concrete — unloading a trailer, staging orders, feeding a wrapping station or repositioning stock in a backroom.
What it will not do is travel long distances repeatedly, climb ramps under load, or lift a pallet to a rack. Those jobs belong to a powered walkie, a stacker or a forklift. Buyers who push a manual truck into a high-cycle application usually end up replacing wheels and seals far sooner than they expected, and they wear out operators along the way.
Four numbers decide whether a manual pallet truck fits your operation.
| Model | Type | Rated capacity |
|---|---|---|
| EOSLift M20S / M20L | Manual hand pump | 4,400 lb |
| EOSLift M25 / M25N | Manual hand pump | 5,500 lb |
| EOSLift M30 | Manual hand pump | 6,600 lb |
| EKKO A25 / A25S | Manual hand pump | 5,500 lb |
| Vestil PM5 series | Manual hand pump | 5,500 lb |
| EOSLift E20MP | Manual with onboard scale | 4,400 lb |
| EOSLift I10 | Scissor lift pallet truck | 2,200 lb |
| EOSLift I15D / I15DE | Scissor lift pallet truck | 3,300 lb |
Manual is right when moves are short, floors are flat and volume is moderate. Once operators are walking hundreds of feet per pallet, or the same person moves dozens of pallets a shift, the labor cost of pumping and pulling outruns the price gap. The lithium-powered pallet jacks in this collection cover that case — Ballymore's 3,300 lb and 4,400 lb quick-charging models, and a professional-grade 4,500 lb unit with electric drive plus electric lift and lower on 27 in x 45 in forks. Ballymore also offers a rough terrain powered jack rated 5,000 lb with 42.125 in forks and 15 in of lift for yard and gravel work, where a standard hand truck's small load wheels simply will not roll.
Scissor lift pallet trucks solve a different problem. The EOSLift I10 and I15D raise the load to a 31.5 in working height, which turns a pallet into an adjustable-height workbench and removes the bending that drives back injuries during picking and assembly. If your issue is ergonomics rather than travel distance, a scissor truck beats a powered walkie. For loads that are heavy but not palletized — appliances, glass, HVAC units — the Makinex PHT2-140 powered hand truck lifts 309 lb from 1 ft up to 6 ft 2 in on an 18V lithium battery, with fork, strap frame and vacuum glass attachments available separately.
Wheel material is the single most common mismatch. Polyurethane load wheels roll easily and protect finished concrete, but they chunk on debris and rough surfaces. Nylon wheels tolerate rough floors, heat and chemicals but transmit more shock and are noisier. Steel-cored tandem load wheels spread weight for heavy or long-standing loads. Dock plates, trailer thresholds, floor drains and expansion joints all punish undersized wheels, so match the wheel to the worst 10 feet of the route rather than the best 90.
Stainless steel trucks exist for a narrower reason: washdown. Food processing, pharmaceutical, cold storage and chemical environments corrode painted steel quickly. This collection carries stainless options from EKKO, GNT and Vestil, with Vestil's stainless hand-pump jacks listed at $6,164.96 and $7,399.43 — a real premium, and worth it only where sanitation or corrosion actually drives the decision.
A manual pallet truck has few failure points, and most are cheap. Load wheels and steering wheels wear flat or develop chunks; entry rollers seize; hydraulic seals weep after years of pumping; the lowering linkage drifts out of adjustment so the forks creep down under load. Replacement load wheel sets, steering wheel sets and load wheel ball bearing kits are stocked in this collection so a worn truck goes back into service instead of into the scrap pile. Practical routine: check wheels and pump action monthly, keep the pump reservoir at level, wipe grit off the ram, and pull any truck that will not hold a load out of service until it is repaired.
Manual pallet trucks are not powered industrial trucks, so OSHA's operator certification rule at 1910.178(l) — which does apply to the electric jacks in this collection — does not cover them. That does not make them training-free. OSHA 1910.176 addresses mechanical handling of materials, including keeping aisles and passageways clear and in good repair where such equipment is used, and employers still owe employees a safe workplace under the OSH Act's general duty clause. ANSI/ITSDF B56.1, the safety standard for low lift and high lift trucks, covers hand pallet trucks alongside powered models and addresses operator practices such as never riding the truck, controlling it on any grade, and keeping feet clear of the forks. Most injuries here come from three things: pulling a load down a slope, running the truck over a foot, and overloading a jack rated below the pallet weight.
