FAQ about this model
How much material does the HD250 hold?
It holds 2 1/2 cubic yards by volume and up to 8,000 lbs by weight, whichever limit you reach first. Dense material such as wet sand, gravel or scrap metal will normally reach the 8,000 lbs load capacity before the hopper looks full. Lighter waste, trim and packaging will fill the volume first.
What are the outside dimensions?
Overall length is 75 3/4", overall width is 50 1/4" and height is 47 1/4". The base measures 60" long by 42 1/2" wide, while the top opening is 73" by 63 1/2". The top is wider than the base, so measure clearance at rim height, not floor level, when placing it against walls or between racking.
Does it need power, air or any hookups?
No. There are no electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic requirements listed for this hopper. It is handled by a lift truck through the fork pockets, which have 2 3/4" of fork clearance. Confirm your fork thickness fits inside that 2 3/4" figure before ordering, since forks that are too thick will not enter the pockets.
What does my forklift need to be rated for?
Your truck has to handle the hopper and its contents together: 1108 lbs empty plus up to 8,000 lbs of material. Check that total against your truck's capacity chart, not just its nameplate rating, because the hopper is 75 3/4" long and pushes the load center further out than a compact load would.
What is the hopper made of?
The body is built from 7GA and 1/4" steel and is 100% MIG welded, and it is made in the USA. The heavier 1/4" material and continuous welds suit repeated loading and unloading of abrasive or heavy material rather than occasional light-duty use. The 1108 lbs empty weight reflects that plate thickness.
Who is this size right for, and who should look elsewhere?
It fits operations moving up to 2 1/2 cubic yards or 8,000 lbs per trip with a forklift rated for the combined load. Look at a different unit if your material regularly exceeds 8,000 lbs, if your aisles or doorways cannot take a footprint 75 3/4" long and 50 1/4" wide, or if no lift truck is available on site.
